We are time traveling ehThat's a belief amongst a number of Libertarians. Ron Paul has argued that the civil war wasn't necessary and the free market would have solved it without a loss of life. His son Rand Paul made the same argument about segregation in private businesses. Aryn Rand made the same arguments.

I really dont know enough about the civil war/slave economy to say if Ron is right or not... but he obviously isnt counting slave lives.
