Watched the first half last night, great documentary and really well done. Would have loved to hear from 9th but understand he didn't want to talk.

Lolkong forward to the second half.

Watching it now, these dudes seem really salty and insecure about 9th
If you add up the total time about 9th in the documentary it’s like 5-7 mins. I didn’t think Phonte still seemed mad. Just over it. Pooh still seemed annoyed but can you blame him? Especially when he feels he was never even respected as a peer. Also I think they’re tired of talking about it but this is the end all be all full story documentary

Why do they throw Joe Scudda in every damn thing :snoop:
You mean having him on Lovin It? For a little bit of history it was never meant to be a single or even an album cut. It was recorded as a loosie. The fact that Atlantic picked it for a single was a complete coincidence. There was definitely no greater plan for that song. Joe always said he’d have done a better verse or cursed less if he ever thought it would’ve been a single one day. These dudes were hanging out so many songs a week at this point. Joints with the most people in the whole crew weekly or more often.

Enjoyable watch. A beautiful portrait of life, artistry and relationships.
Didn't really grasp the 9th Wonder aspect before watching this.

Great doc - enjoyed this a lot. Really brought back a lot of memories too. It was cool getting the back stories on how they met and also how Phonte and Pooh fell out. Pretty crazy that the passing of Phife Dawg kinda made the lightbulb go off for them to connect and check in with each other.

As far as the 9th part, I’d be interested in hearing from the posters that were around them a lot in the early days because I feel like there is still a level or resentment towards 9th and I’m not sure how warranted some of that is now. For instance yes they have put out excellent music without 9th but I almost got the sense they are undervaluing what he brought to the table on The Listening and we got literally no mention of the beats he made on The Minstrel Show. Like it or not, 9th was the more popular of the group bc his beats were dope and he had a longer reach, producing for a lot of different crews and being one of the “it” producers.

When they started a tour and 9th was going to join them 10 shows in or something, them feeling like he would fukk things up and telling him to stay back was wild bc they got mad when he said “aight” lmaoooo
Pooh definitely still salty and Phonte came off like he don’t appreciate what 9th brought to the table and that’s unfortunate. They came off resentful and jealous still IMO.

Wasn't this done around the time of the last album (hence the title of the documentary). I remember Pooh & Tay mentioned when the album dropped they had tour dates lined up and a doc but COVID happened so plans got halted and they pushed it to round the time of the 20th Anniversary. This could be why it seem strong with "9th hate" it was around that time there patience with 9th was no more and they finally wiped their hands of him (judging by interviews when 9th was brought up and they really didn't want to touch on it too much) so they just vented what they really felt to finally put it bed. Also felt bad for Pooh watching this it was like he caught the short end of the stick from jump. I know its joked he was the weak link but damn it felt like he was looked like that within the crew.
