Would've preferred at least one guaranteed high pick. The big winner for right now is Stafford. He goes to LA. He goes to a stacked squad. When they do like Minnesota he will get no blame and get even more money just for being a tall, white QB. Lions are in a position where they don't have to rush or reach in regards to a QB. They got options, that's good. I'm just glad to move on and hopeful that this new FO can do what no one has been able to do since Lucy was on TV...build a winning culture. We'll see.
How I ain't know you were a Lions fan all this time:ohhh:

And just like that the number #1 overall pick is in the bushes

So Marcus Mariota ,
Jameis Winston,
Jared Goff,
Mitchell Trubisky, and soon Carson Wentz

All bushed in like 5yrs after being drafted as high picks

This ain't new.. going back not that far..
Tim Couch,
Akili Smith,
Jamarcus Russell,
Daunte Culpeper

And who is next ..
Tua ?
Kyler Murray ?
Lamar Jackson ?

After seeing what just happened teams are again about to waste high picks on QBs in this year's draft

Everybody loves Trevor Lawrence but I got a bad feeling about him

If I had that pick I'm trading it for Watson

I'm calling it now, Goff will do better with Detroit than Stafford; Padford will do worse with LA than Goff did...

This is a lot of disrespect for Goff, a guy who (along with Gurley and McVay) resurrected the franchise and carried them just a few years ago when this defense was TERRIBLE. They've had all kinds of injuries at wideout and along the line and the up and down finding a replacement for Gurley, and the one consistency was Goff kept winning...

He gonna thrive under Lynn and Detroit just got better. Even if Campbell turns out to be a shytty coach Lynn is right there to assume the position----->Goff won this trade and although the Rams are better in the short term, Goff and Detroit will win this in the long game...

Rams basically continue to sell out to win now, and each year they don't shyt like this will bite them...

I like Padford, and for a dozen years he dealt with ineptitude in Detroit, but he also has a ceiling. He been around 12 years---->I know what I got with Matthew fukking Stafford. The change of scenery will rejuvenate him but a guy 12 years in, who hasn't won a playoff game, only been there three times, and was a perennial ~7-wins/year guy......again he been around a minute. We know who Stat Padford is. This offense may return to video game numbers under him but its time to see this guy win and win big. And I just dont see this moving the needle. He's never even won his division...

LA has some bad karma returning down the line for mishandling their relationship with Goff. Guy won 61% of his games in 4.5 years starting there, after the previous 4.5 years they were 31-41-1, and again, while Goff wasn't the only reason for the resurrection of the Rams by any stretch, look around the NFL. Not just anybody coulda won that much under McVay, look at how Shanahan is struggling to find consistency in SF, look at Washington, look at the Raiders, the Dolphins, look around...

You can do a whole lot worse than having Jared Goff as your quarterback. Man's has a winning record every year he started, 2 division titles, an NFC Championship he came from behind and won on the road, won a playoff game on a broken thumb and was good in the other one, made a Super Bowl, and is less often injured than Stafford...

Unless Rams win at the same level or higher under Stafford, they lose this trade, and to be very straightforward, Rams never had a losing season with Goff as full time starter, made the playoffs 3 of 4 years with Goff as full time starter, etc. This trade is a massive failure if the next 4-5 years under Stafford, supposedly the better talent, can't at least equal the success rate...

Lions are used to losing, getting Lynn + Goff + the picks, they are already better than they were yesterday. Will be respectable pretty quickly and just got a proven winner at the position, they won big time...

The Rams at times were winning in spite of Jared Goff bruh. Not one game I can point to in Jareds career with the LA and say "he carried us that game :ehh:".

I can point to more games and say, "we lost that game because of Goff :unimpressed:"

I will say he played admirably in the Playoffs this last go around. But even thats fools gold. You know why though? Because McVay purposely stripped down the offense even more to adjust to Jareds broken thumb and focused on running the ball. Without offensive threats to take opposing defenses attention, youre coaching with half the playbook (or less) to keep Goff from fukking up. We were never going beyond a Divisional round with him and our team as is.

Stafford is a serviceable QB and an upgrade because as you said, he's a known quantity, hes consistent, something Goff is not. We got off from under Goffs contract. And the Lions get a young, average to below average to kick tires on, along with picks. Win fuggin win in my book. :yeshrug:

:laff: They need to can that rams gm asap...2 1st rounds and a 3rd :pachaha:...good lord

As a birds fan...this trade gives me hope that we can finally deal wentz’s contract away....he’s got the same time on as Goff and he’s taking up mega cap space.....the lions created a template for underperforming overpaid QBs and what they’re worth....hopefully we can use this as a blueprint and get something HUGE in return

Stafford is better than Goff. And you add the surrounding talent of the Rams, plus McVay running the ship and Stafford has a real chance to make noise. With that being said...IDGAF. I hope them nikkas lose every fukking game, Matt back flare up, and Donald and Ramsey both demand trades. Get them picks as high as they can be.

So far the Lions GM/braintrust looking good. And I ain't even tripping off the Campbell hire no more because it looks like he got a strong ass coaching staff, full of black men too. I'm almost scared to say I really like the direction and decisions I'm seeing so far.

Two black coordinators and a black GM. Nice.

It's also crazy for me to see Aaron Glenn, Duce Staley, Mark Burnell, Hank Fraley as well as Dan Campbell on the staff; Players I vividly remember watching being coaches. I feel :flabbynsick:

Might be one of those trades that both teams lose.
Not gonna be able to say until 6 years from now and see what Detroit is able to do with those picks and how they turn out.

Getting rid of Goff is great but they've essentially wasted 5 1st round picks on him :mjlol:

Im pretty sure GM breh from Detroit did the rams a favor since that's his old squad. He like fukk it we rebuilding we'll take that trash but yall gon have to give us an extra pick i know 1st hand how bad he is :mjlol:

We've seen Stafford with Calvin Johnson, Suh, and Darius slay...didn't amount to shyt :patrice:

he wasn’t as good then as he is now. He’s currently a much better qb than he gets credit for. Especially these last few years. If mcvay can get him a run game he can play action off of you guys will be far better at the QB position thank you realize.

IMO the only reason he is viewed as Average is because he has to overcome everything that was wrong with the franchise and he was paid like a top guy. He also stunk it up a lot prior to 2018.

Stafford had to drop back and sling it every game with the opposing defense knowing there was no run game. He also knew the defense wouldn’t hold a lead. Of course you’ll make mistakes playing that way.

to add to this our last coach demanded ball control offense so we always got behind. We could never start the game playing vertical. That held him back.

I’m one of the lions fans that piled on to stafford up until 2 or 3 seasons ago. He improved under Caldwell, Cooper, and Bevelle.

Some lions fans just won’t let the past be the past.

I know Goff wants to commit that

But damn the rams gave up up all that for a dude with maybe a 1/4 tank left yeeesh ...they must be in awe of Brady and think Matt goin to be playing at 43
That’s really the only way to justify this, Matt Stafford is a proven QB who can avg you 4000 yards 25/10 a year, and turns it on in crunch time, he could possibly play at this level for the next 5 years barring a bad injury.

Goff has already shown his ceiling his best year was in his second season the past 3 seasons he’s been very turnover prone and has already created bad habits that are hard to break.

The Lions will be drafting another QB within 2 years mark my words.
