I'm calling it now, Goff will do better with Detroit than Stafford; Padford will do worse with LA than Goff did...

This is a lot of disrespect for Goff, a guy who (along with Gurley and McVay) resurrected the franchise and carried them just a few years ago when this defense was TERRIBLE. They've had all kinds of injuries at wideout and along the line and the up and down finding a replacement for Gurley, and the one consistency was Goff kept winning...

He gonna thrive under Lynn and Detroit just got better. Even if Campbell turns out to be a shytty coach Lynn is right there to assume the position----->Goff won this trade and although the Rams are better in the short term, Goff and Detroit will win this in the long game...

Rams basically continue to sell out to win now, and each year they don't shyt like this will bite them...

I like Padford, and for a dozen years he dealt with ineptitude in Detroit, but he also has a ceiling. He been around 12 years---->I know what I got with Matthew fukking Stafford. The change of scenery will rejuvenate him but a guy 12 years in, who hasn't won a playoff game, only been there three times, and was a perennial ~7-wins/year guy......again he been around a minute. We know who Stat Padford is. This offense may return to video game numbers under him but its time to see this guy win and win big. And I just dont see this moving the needle. He's never even won his division...

LA has some bad karma returning down the line for mishandling their relationship with Goff. Guy won 61% of his games in 4.5 years starting there, after the previous 4.5 years they were 31-41-1, and again, while Goff wasn't the only reason for the resurrection of the Rams by any stretch, look around the NFL. Not just anybody coulda won that much under McVay, look at how Shanahan is struggling to find consistency in SF, look at Washington, look at the Raiders, the Dolphins, look around...

You can do a whole lot worse than having Jared Goff as your quarterback. Man's has a winning record every year he started, 2 division titles, an NFC Championship he came from behind and won on the road, won a playoff game on a broken thumb and was good in the other one, made a Super Bowl, and is less often injured than Stafford...

Unless Rams win at the same level or higher under Stafford, they lose this trade, and to be very straightforward, Rams never had a losing season with Goff as full time starter, made the playoffs 3 of 4 years with Goff as full time starter, etc. This trade is a massive failure if the next 4-5 years under Stafford, supposedly the better talent, can't at least equal the success rate...

Lions are used to losing, getting Lynn + Goff + the picks, they are already better than they were yesterday. Will be respectable pretty quickly and just got a proven winner at the position, they won big time...

Stafford is better than Goff by a decent margin. Anytime you have a coach having to spoon feed information to a QB pre-snap the offense is severely limited .

That’s a lot to give up . But right now the NFC is open .Brees is done ,Green Bay have Rodgers and money issues ,Brady a year older the Rams are shooting their shot and now they’re real contenders

The coli is too in love with picks and the rams have proven that they’re really good and finding good players all through the draft .

It’s a win for both teams.

Goff wasn't it and the decline in play from the SB year was steep, but I don't see Matt as someone who turns the Rams into a contender overnight. You still need receivers outside of Robert Woods.
The Rams were already a contender with Goff. Their receivers are good enough with Kupp and Van Jefferson looks solid.

The person that made the Ram’s draft picks for the last 8 years is the GM of the Lions now.

The Lions can remake their team with these picks. With 2 1sts and a 3rd if they hit they may have a future provided by this trade. And they still got their pick this year too with a younger QB who can still improve. The Rams may or may not win this trade for the next season or two but the Lions are going to be the long term winners if they get 1 or 2 of those picks right.

U can say they both won

Detroit won a temporary QB for now, but got draft picks to make up for it...

It wasn’t like they was going to win anywhere in the next 2/3 years

the rams won for the simple fact they can get out of that same offense of run left, run right and play action pass to the middle of the field

but the rams better hope they can get back to the super bowl within the next 2 years tho

its interesting to note that brad holmes the new lions gm is the one that played a part in drafting goff

In 2013, Holmes was named the Rams Director of College Scouting. In this role, Holmes was integral in the acquisition of Rams "Mob Squad" Pro Bowlers Aaron Donald, Jared Goff, Todd Gurley, Cooper Kupp, Pharoh Cooper, and Cory Littleton.
