Eh, they can be, but it won't be backed by major studios. They will be Tubi-fied which limits scope, talent, and appeal. It's like when you say, "Hip hop sucks," and people start naming a buncha of underground folks who don't get their albums mixed right. There might be gems, but they all lack polish and have to sacrifice so much that folks will judge that book by its cover.
Tubi is like the equivalent of the DVD era.

There used to be a notion back in the 2000s that if a movie went straight to DVD it was more than likely garbage. That wasn't always the case, as there'd be gems mixed deep in the DVD bin at Walmart but there's a reason why it went straight to DVD rather than theatrical, and it's not a good reason.

Tubi is similar in that regard. It's good for amateur filmmakers who want to show off some skills but most of the movies in Tubi are garbage; outside of the well-known big titles and B-movie gems that occasionally are recycled every month, Tubi is the DVD bin of streaming services.

movies started being trash in the 2010s
especially the second half of 2010s like everything else

to me, the greatest era in cinema is 2000s

so many array of genres came out and i'm pretty sure, has the most what we referred to as classics

To be fair they are also getting a cut from streaming and people are still buying DVD and Blu ray.

If anything the backlash from the insanity around streaming prices(jacking up the price and putting in ads or having slimy clauses in the agreement you sign to use the service) has got people looking at home video again.

When you buy a physical product there's one point of contact. You spend money, you get an item, it's yours. When you rent a digital product, the contact is ongoing. You are paying for the privilege of using the product. You stop paying, it goes away. Or the provider can simply remove it from their digital front and there's nothing you can do about it.

What these companies want is for you to rent everything and own nothing because you're guaranteed to keep giving them money while they put out whatever low quality, low budget slop they want. Quality doesn't matter to these people as much as sales and publicity. The management is bad because it's not people who understand art running these studios, these aren't people who've worked on film sets, they're people who'd be running banks or grocery conglomerates if they weren't running studios. They don't even know what "good" art is, because art to them is just another product they're expected to sell.

streaming changed the game

It did; but SOME entertainers/artists who were getting fat during the gold rush use it as an excuse now for their fall off.

its annoying.

either adapt if you really about it or just retire.

Delusional ass take from the jump…

:gucci:

1. DVD/Blu-ray sales are NOWHERE near the level they were at before when the dvd sales alone would get a movie out of the red by itself.

2. Streaming revenue is NOWHERE near the level of income that peak DVD sales used to provide.

Your whole take is based on a false premise. I don’t know if you did this on purpose just because you felt like writing an article worth of opinions… but you really have no grasp on what’s really going on.

DVD sales nrought reduced risk on non-standard storylines.

DVD sales gone = standard storylines and sequels are preferred because of reduced risk.

/topic.

Its just a symptom of technology. Keep in mind the homoe video market he is talking about was seen a major threat to Hollywood when it was introduced in the 70s

they gotta figure it out. the EXACT same thing happened to the music industry a decade prior to the film industry. so they should have had some foresight in seeing history repeat itself.

Movies, music, TV shows arent made for art...they are made to make money. It aint rocket science. If I can throw Dom and his Family into any scenario with an actor from back in the day and a wrestler and make a billy each time Ima do that shyt.

Damon can save the plea cops. Him and his friends got the money and the names to make anything they want. No names dropping movies on Tubi everyday B. His ass just dont want put the money up and take the risk.
This.

From Rambo, to Die Hard, to Jurassic Park, to Lord of the Rings, to Lucas' Star Wars, to Disney's Star Wars. Aliens to Jason Vorhees, Freddy, Hannibal, Chucky films, Scream films, etc .. whatever the brand, they've always stood on business: fukk art, get money. Not saying it's "right" but that it is what it is.

Even when the brand was an Eddie, Arnold, Denzel, Pitt, Leo, Carrey, Will, or Tom acting as themselves for 2 hours.. what was a common complaint for a number of these guys? "Oh he just playing the same character every movie." Absolutely. Kept going to that same well bc that's what paid for their big hollywood mansions.

Movies started being trash when they decided to make sequels and remakes of everything.
blame Jaws for that, honestly. as much as i LOVE the OG Jaws flick, it was the original blockbuster that started the trend.

He mad he can only cameo in all those thor movies. instead of being the star of one.

ether lol... why does matt damon look like glenn danzig here? yuck

I think the real issue is that Hollywood-produced films have lost that gritty, surreal, etc aesthetic that was once prevalent throughout filmmaking during the 70s, 80s, 90s, and even early 2000s.

Movies and their lesser quality sequels within the franchises during those years felt more different, more classic, more grandiose, and more authentic, but nowadays, most movies and franchises feel cheap and not as satisfying for moviegoers.

A lot of modern-day filmmakers and writers aren't very good and are just rehashing the same script over and over again. Sure, remakes and sequels have always been a thing, but there was and is a difference in the overall feel for past and present franchises.
theres also a stunning lack of originality in all the arts right now. i think its kind of become a problem because theres so many of us that its more and more likely that were going to have the same ideas. personally, im afraid of writing a song and years later find out i ripped off some shyt i'd never even heard of. it happens. all. the. time.
