Kendrick makes good music though puts thought in to the process and his concepts that’s something I could appreciate cause there’s more to rap than just wordplay

I think Math and his crew are probably too Jay-Z-brained where they're looking for double/triple ententres and punchlines. Papoose might be more lyrical to them but there's no arguing kendrick makes better music. A lot of this is salt from east coast folks cause I cant recall the last rapper that was as big as Kendrick that was close to as lyrical. Probably have to go oretty far back.

Kendrick can rap about damn near anything and paint a picture for you without over complicating it as well as making great music, something a lot of those “lyricists” back then could not do. That’s the thing about all time greats though, they thrive in any era.

He an EXCELLENT songwriter.

That doesn't take away from his ability to craft great songs, though. Lyrically lyrical doesn't translate to great songs 7/10 times

Thats where the problem is coming in. Calling him a "lyricist" is going to draw comparisons to rappers who was really out to kill shyt and get reactions from bar to bar


So yeah,Jadakiss and Crooked I dont make great albums but Kendrick isnt even close when it comes to that brand of "lyricist". Those guys get a pass for albums based on what they do bar to bar. You said Lloyd Banks name as it’s a bad thing to listen to Banks. Banks is far from a punchline rappers. He hasnt been heavy punchlines since the 00s. He’s way more wordplay and multi syllables.

He way more lyrical than somebody like Kendrick, he just doesnt have the fanbase.
