We will just have to agree to disagree because materialism isn't close to the woat for the community at all. Only place killing is going on for the most part is the same place it would be going on even without materialism and that's the lower income areas.

I don't think materialism is the WOAT for the community either, it's the thread title and people have a habit of entering threads centered around Black people and saying that "other groups of people do it too."

Others groups do everything and I only mention it when people seem to say we do things at some bigger clip than other groups when that shyt ain't true. That's the only time I mention other groups

So you have a degree a lot of others have one too that have style and aren't nerdy. That's the thing that trips cats up dudes out here really trying to cover up their insecurities on some I gotta degree tip. You not the only one lol. I know you will say you didn't say that but if your not saying/implying that what exactly does it mean when its many people that have a degree and have style too?

Haha correct but i don't have my degree yet i still have 2 years, the keyword was "will be graduating". Currently I have no income for expensive/stylish clothes as most of my money goes to rent and food so due to that I just wear whatever. Now if i graduated and had a job and was still using the "nerdy clothes" excuse then what you said would be valid as I would have the income to be able to dress a little better but right now I just have to dress within my budget :yeshrug:. No harm done tho lol

My point was you can be in school and not have "nerdy" clothing and style. Its not mutually exclusive and a copout IMO. Also if that's what you getting told by chicks your shyt must be really done and or they letting you know early they ain't fukking with you like that. Hope its the former

You say that as if many people didn't say that before.

Read through the posts in this thread sir.
I did read through the post which is why i brought attention to what others have already said sir. Forgive me for not pointing out that others said something similiar however, i was honestly asking what else is the problem?

I see it as a priority issue and misguided values but was also interested in what others think the deeper issues are.

Black people feel in order to say we made it, we must have the same thing white people have... the overpriced homes, the overpriced clothes, cars, fashion,etc...

Did u know we have over 1.1 trillion dollars in purchasing power however only 2% goes into black businesses....we continue to lose even if we think we have the updated shyt..

Check this article out

Eventually black people are gonna have to seriously deal with this. We collectively give away over a trillion dollars to other races who we know for a fact don't give two fukks about us and we seem OK with it.

Coming from NYC , shyt is the worse here .The standard for fly here is on a whole other echelon . Back in 8th grade you had to wear pradas , true religions jeans , robin jeans , BB simon belts , marmot jackets , moncler jackets to be classified as fly & this is back in 09/10 as a 13/14 year old :what: , I was doing stick ups and come ups just to have my wardrobe up to par :snoop:

One Christmas my 13 year old cousin told me she wanted some Gucci shoes for Christmas :heh:

She ain't get shyt from me that year :umad:

All most hip hop, black genre and culture, does is brag about cars, jewelry, clothes and money :wow:

That's the saddest part of this. We could cripple the infrastructure just by NOT buying a product. I feel like Hip Hop, nowadays... wasn't always like that, pushed this bullshyt narrative.

We don't even need to cripple their infrastructure, we just need to strengthen our own.

But if there's topple in the process I'm OK with it :ehh:

Yeah but new rappers throw it in the listeners faces and make accusations that those with less money are less of a man

There is a difference
