Its the basic imitation of white peoples materialism without the financial backing and responsibility needed to fully pull it off.

If you got it then flaunting it a bit isnt a bad thing but if you dont got it then faking it will just hurt you.

Black men get expensive clothing and black women prioritize being with men who wear expensive clothing which hurts the black community as a whole because we dont have the economic wealth to live in such a way.

I agree. Since I got into the Truth my appetite for material things has really declined a lot. It just became natural. I do not eat out as much as I used to either. Materialism is sometimes a way to cope with this captivity. I understand why because deep down inside we know that we are a nations of kings and priests and that is what the Most High told us, but we are subject the Esau, the damn devil.

As for the thread Materialism is not bad is just not being able to afford it and over extending yourself to do so is. Some cats always on some I wear cheap clothes and the like well good for you but most of y'all saying that can't comfortably afford better anyway. I have a black friend struggling because of the materalism he was obsessed with in our 20s...

I have a cac associate bout to drop 100K on a house....... he lived with his pops and saved up. Never got clowned by white hoes for "living in his mama basement" ... he spent time building up his credit and saving and ... .still was knocking down women.

Many black boys believe you need the hot shoes or the dope car to feel good, get any p*ssy you want, and stunt.

this right here, if I had a child I would tell him to stay with me and save his money... fukk blowing his money on rent where he can just stay here and save his money, just make the simple math u spend on rent yearly at that money bsitting in ur bank acount...idk how much I would breach about the importance of credit..

To parents kicking there child out once they turn 18... my friends mom would contantly remind him that at 18 he had to get his own place

Also parents that charge there child rent, wouldn't suprised me if this only happens in america.

The funny thing I have more money than I ever have had yet I'm the cheapest I've ever been when it comes to materialistic things.

When I was making like 8.50 a hour I used to buy like two fitteds a week etc.

100 dollar hoodies, 100 dollar jeans

Now I'm cheap as hell

Same for me...I go around dressed like Bell Bellicheck and the thot cashier at the store gives me a funny look like I don't belong in there. I rock a velcro wallet I copped at Wal-Mart for $4....my leather one broke and it was a quick fix that I've stuck with for the past year.
