How you gonna ROFL with a hollow back?
My wife and I were just discussing how disastrously worse this would have been if open carry laws were more lax. In a situation like this, with a sniper, just a bunch of drunk a$$holes shooting each other in an open field. I think, this country is probably too far gone for any gun law reform to move the meter right now, but it could possibly allow future generations to not have to live with the frequency of mass shootings in this country. Baby boomers can't die fast enough, and hopefully the crazy fukking a$$holes like Alex Jones, Steve Bannon, etc..haven't indoctrinated the youth too much and they don't keep getting suckered into these invisible boogeymen.

Fresno, CA.
People still fighting gun control in the US after this?! How many tragedies will it take???
This has nothing to do with the 2nd amendment.
This guy was a terrorists.
Stop politicizing.

:francis:
Moreover, the automatic rifles used have been banned since 86(from what I've read).
Not restricted but banned for civilians.
Gun control has little to nothing to do with this.

Anyone see the video of the 4th floor where shots were coming out of? This is almost unbelievable that one man was able to get off that many rounds from that far away and hit that many people? It just doesn't add up.

Sadly I agree. You could stop selling guns tomorrow and stop all production of new guns. There are still too many in circulation to ever fix this. At least it won't be fixed in my lifetime.

:mjcry:
It will only get worse in America. It will never get better. Body counts will become bigger and bigger because our society gets worse and worse. There's no stopping it.

The point is not to stop it, it's to make it more difficult to pull off high casualty killing sprees. I am surprised you are using the "if it won't fix EVERYTHING why even try"? There are some major differences between drug trafficking and weapon trafficking that I can expand on later, but it's simply not the same, though I will concede there will certainly black market sales. I don't know the details of Australia's ban, what did they do that worked so well?

Lets go through each shootings in the NY Times list of mass killings from 2007, and ID where the killer got the weapon.

It's not "why even try." If we fight for much more stringent background checks, tougher laws against straw purchasers, cracking down on gun show loopholes, preventing mentally ill and others from being able to legally purchase guns - that will decrease gun crimes across the board.

Our goal should be to decrease the number of killings, not just those committed by assault rifles. If you read the article from the Times that initially discussed the mass killings article/database, they state that in determining how to define what constitutes a "mass shooting" :

"When we began compiling our database in 2012, we used that criteria of four or more killed in public attacks, but excluded mass murders that stemmed from robbery, gang violence or domestic abuse in private homes. Our goal with this relatively narrow set of parameters was to better understand the seemingly indiscriminate attacks that have increased in recent years, whether in movie theaters, elementary schools or office parks."

I give them credit for being honest about their fukked up intentions, not to mention the confirmation that this distinction is made purposefully and not unconscious bias. I realized this list was bogus because as I'm reading the article I don't see anything about the MANY mass shootings that have occurred in Chicago just over the last 3-5 years. There have been two quadruple homicides just since April, not to mention several triple homicides. There was a shooting a few years back at a park that hit 13 people. Earlier this year 2 were killed and another 8 wounded. The big gun control advocates don't want to discuss the REAL reason why so many people die from guns - multi generational poverty being the primary factor. But unfortunately, the assault rifle angle is much sexier and sells way more newspaper subscriptions.

People need to really wake up.

With respect to Australia the article below does a great job of explaining the differences. This passage is instructive"

Australia's Lessons on Gun Control

"But despite Australia’s successes—and its political leadership’s excoriating of the U.S. after each mass shooting here for, in its view, not doing enough to restrict gun ownership—at least some of the restrictions put in place after the 1996 massacre have been loosened more than two decades after the killings. Four of Australia’s six states have eased rules mandating the 28-day waiting period between applying to buy a gun and purchasing it. There are estimated to be as many guns in Australia now as there were at the time of the Port Arthur massacre—though the level of gun violence is not comparable .

These developments in Australia underscore how difficult it is to achieve lasting change on issues like gun control. That’s especially true in the United States where there are not only up to an estimated 310 million guns—nearly one each for every citizen—but also a constitutional right to bear arms, as well as entrenched political interests. Australia might have been able to use a massacre to pass tough legislation against guns, but the prospect of the U.S. achieving something similar is close to none."

You have to break the windows to shoot out of them. There were no broken windows on the 4th floor the next morning. There were on the 32nd floor.

doesnt make sense because then we'd see a broken window on the 4th floor.....

If I still had my physics software I could really track the trajectory of the bullet . I'm sure some of the nerds in the arcardium have access to those programs..
