What's the gap between superman returns and man of steel? Exactly?

And what's the gap between batman & robin and batman begins?

You see the trend superman returns and batman & robin almost killed those brands. Same with Spider-Man 3. And the exact same thing with fantastic 4.

Fox is at least trying to have some continuity but then they said fukk it and let time travel wipe the slate clean.

TDK just ended which was polarizing but are now forced to do another reboot. Meanwhile Robert Downey Jr. Will have been playing Iron Man for 10 years when Avengers 3 drops.

These other studios will be forced to reboot Spider-Man, The Fantastic Four, and the X-Men forever. Because if they don't then the rights revert back to Marvel.

So while I'm not against other studios making Marvel movies, people need to realize the only way for them to have a unified cast and story arc, is in the MCU. Otherwise there's going to be another Spider-Man origin story in a few years, a new F4, a new X-Men, etc. over and over, ad nauseam.

Well in theory they could still keep the rights WITHOUT redoing the origin again and again.

They could, but they most likely won't. This is Hollywood man, we're still getting Spider-Man origin stories 50+ years after his creation.

The reason "Batman Begins" was so well received is because nobody had seen a movie that far back into his history. There's only so many ways you can show a spider biting someone, or Clark Kent getting raised on a farm.

I'm saying though, in hindsight given the choice don't you think DC would've liked to do same thing? Wouldn't they like to have Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, The Flash, etc. all up and running, successful franchises leading into a Justice League movie vs let's say Darkseid?

And now they can't, is all I'm saying. They gotta rush through the process to arrive at a Justice League movie in the next few years.

Fred.
I'm sure now the folks at WB are probably kicking themselves for not thinking of it first (I say probably just because they still have not seen fit to create a DC equivalent to Marvel Studios that just focuses on the comic book properties) but the fact that there was not and is not one voice steering things for the DC side of the Warner empire it is not likely anyone over there would have ever thought to do it.
Marvel losing the X-Men and Spider-Man rights helped them out greatly because it put them in the position to only focus on movies for the characters they had left which led to the creation of Marvel Studios which eventually led to the unified movie universe.

I do disagree with the idea of WB "rushing" to get to Justice League. If they were rushing then we would have had more movies released by now. WB is moving at a pretty deliberate pace (two movies in the span of 3 years?) if you want to be honest, they just aren't doing it in the exact same way that Marvel did. That does not equal rushing things, that is just dong it differently than what Marvel is doing.

I don't know if all of the villains have been awful, but I will say I don't think you can argue that the villains haven't been the weakest part of the Marvel movies. Contrast that with the Batman films where since day one, the villains have usually made the movies and been the primary center of attention.

I think the best Marvel villain might be the Winter Soldier. X-men had the best villains. Apocalypse, Mr. Sinister, Omega Red, Sabertooth, Magneto, Juggernaut, Sentinels, Mystique... I guess Marvel can't use any of them?

Loki was pretty dope. Jeff Bridges in Ironman was cool. The Mandarin could've been great but Ironman 3 dropped the ball on that.

Fixed.

And I agree wholeheartedly. Heroes better die.

I do think Winter Soldier, Dafoe's Green Goblin, both Magnetos and Loki were dope though...Might be a few more, but Marvel/Whoever makes their movies needs to do better.
