And let's be real here, DC ain't rationing out their movies because they want quality over quantity. They're rationing them out because they don't have much to work with. The MCU actually blowing up took everyone by surprise, because that gamble could've just as easily ended the company.

Fred.
WB isn't rationing out DC movies at the same rate as Marvel because WB is a movie studio that does not specialize in DC movies.
Marvel Studios reason for existing is to pump out these movies featuring Marvel properties. There is no equivalent at WB in regards to DC properties so DC movies are just one part of the larger WB movie making machine and only recently with the promotion of Kevin Tsujihara is there even an emphasis being placed on really mining the DC characters in movie form.
You can't compare the two really.

That is a valid point but let's be real here. If DC could've jump started their expanded universe 5-6 years ago, they would have. But at the time the MCU was a huge risk that could've ended Marvel. Imagine if "Ironman" flopped.

So the idea of linking together multiple movies wasn't viable. Now it obviously is, which is why we have "Superman V Batman" with several other Justice League characters and "DOFP" going directly into a quasi-Age Of Apocalypse.

Although he became a joke character, the "you'll never see me coming" line is like one the goat eerie villain lines. Just the way he delivers it,

Marvel studios has yet be forced to reboot a franchise. Meanwhile

Batman
Superman
Fantastic Four
X-Men
Spider-Man

All of these franchises had to reboots or origins to reboot their respective stories. Meanwhile Marvel pumps out new characters and villains for the masses to :eat:

Even when they did the Edward Norton Hulk it wasn't a reboot it was just a continuation of where the previous one left off. But Nolan wouldn't know nothing about that. He didn't even know how to cope with ledger dying so he put a 7 year gap in the story and made batman :flabbynsick:

Face facts people, Marvel set the standard and everybody else playing catchup.

Marvel deserves credit for going for the unified single movie universe but it is not something anyone was ever thinking of before they did it. If someone was so inclined back in the day of the Burton Batman movies it could have been done but WB never looked at the DC properties that way. They saw Batman as a cash cow and took the approach of letting directors do whatever they wanted with the character for 2 or 3 movies.
I can't even say that was a bad approach either since it resulted in more good Batman movies than bad.

Not tryna :cape: for either side but that's not even close to being a valid point. The Batman and Superman franchises are over 25 and 35 years old respectively.

Marvel been in the game 7 years. :comeon:

What's the gap between superman returns and man of steel? Exactly?

And what's the gap between batman & robin and batman begins?

You see the trend superman returns and batman & robin almost killed those brands. Same with Spider-Man 3. And the exact same thing with fantastic 4.

Fox is at least trying to have some continuity but then they said fukk it and let time travel wipe the slate clean.

TDK just ended which was polarizing but are now forced to do another reboot. Meanwhile Robert Downey Jr. Will have been playing Iron Man for 10 years when Avengers 3 drops.

I'm saying though, in hindsight given the choice don't you think DC would've liked to do same thing? Wouldn't they like to have Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, The Flash, etc. all up and running, successful franchises leading into a Justice League movie vs let's say Darkseid?

And now they can't, is all I'm saying. They gotta rush through the process to arrive at a Justice League movie in the next few years.

Marvel obviously had the foresight to plan ahead but that's also because they had the benefit of watching the other studios and learning from their mistakes. They were obviously the first ones to seriously consider a shared universe and thus took the necessary steps to plant those seeds.
