so seperate accounts means your hiding something
Why have a seperate account then?

I'm not hiding my purchases, we share the same house, each other's problems, at least let a nikka keep his money. Won't be sharing accounts.Yes you can. But you don't need a seperate account to do it. If you have to hide your purchases you aren't really doing whatever you want.
Umm making financial decisions together...investing, saving, starting a business, etc. Getting the bills paid is only one aspect of marriage but what about developing a stable financial platform for BOTH of you? You'll get rich a lot quicker in a marriage by putting all your money together and making financial decisions together than just paying your portion of the bills and doing whatever you want with money left over. There's several examples of this in this thread, and as long as the bills get paid and a bit is put into savings, what else you need to work together on?
review together?
might as well give up your balls sack brehs
Who said we're trying to get rich, start a business lmao. If I ain't getting money out of my degree I don't expect to get money with my wife not investing, that's a waste of money, like Gucci said "if you're married to a broke bytch, my nikka divorce her" if we ain't making money separately then there's no point sharing money.Umm making financial decisions together...investing, saving, starting a business, etc. Getting the bills paid is only one aspect of marriage but what about developing a stable financial platform for BOTH of you? This is marriage..everything you do is scrutinizedThey why you create a budget and review it together regularly. Unless you both are in deep debt there is no reason why your spending money after savings and bills should be scrutinized. Now if yall have debt to pay off it may be reasonable to cut down spending or monitor miscellaneous spending for the good of the family.

always have a backup
LMMFAO!! Umm why wouldn't you? Why would you get married only to maintain the financial level you had before marriage? Hell the shyt might decrease once you add children in the mix. You NEED more money in a marriage and the fastest way to get there is to work together financially.Who said we're trying to get rich, start a business lmao. I understand why anyone would want to maintain individual accounts but I think a joint account is the best way to go. Individual accounts lead to financial fukkery and secrets, especially if one partner is bad with money. A joint account forces you to work together with finances. It also allows the person who sucks with money to see how their bad habits are impacting the marriage.
I don't think you can work together financially with separate accounts, it just doesn't seem possible to me. If someone has a hard time budgeting or overspends their money, it's hard for the other partner to see this behavior until it's too late. I think the couple should have separate spending money but anything over that should be a discussion and I think those discussions will happen less if the accounts are separate.
yupYou're saying all this and you have never been in the situation
Me and my wife have separate accounts and a joint savings account
All the bills get paid and money gets out into saving every month
Why would I care about what she does with the rest of the money she earned on her own?
