men don't always understand us women and our frivolous purchases here and there and as women we don't always understand their costly purchases regarding sports/car upgrades/electronics/guns and things like that. instead of having to explain and pour over every little thing we spend in a joint account and vice versa ....we just keep monthly spending money separate. as long as he's not spending it on women\cheating i don't care WHAT he chooses to spend it on :yeshrug: get your trust game up folks.

I was being sarcastic based on a reply earlier. :guilty: I'm all in favor of joint accounts with separate ones for spending. I also don't think there should be any scrutinizing purchases. With that said I think money that goes in to the individual accounts should be agreed upon by the couple. Like people shouldn't be stashing money in that account just because their partner doesn't have access to it.

I mean, yea. Trust would be a big part of why I'd (theoretically) marry her. I do understand that a lot of couples have money problems from just these types of instances tho. And I'd wager that all of them would tell you after the fact "I trusted her" but :manny:.
The most common reason for divorce is money issues. Those usualy stem from someone doing something irresponsible with the money. I believe a lot of those issues can be alleviated by being open and honest about all expenditures. If she knows I can see what she's purchasing(not that I'm hounding her or want to dictate what she purchases) then she is more likely to spend responsibly.

That's called taking something out of context. If you look at the entire conversation. Dude was taking about keeping his money separate so she won't be all in his business.
oh ok my bad....in that case i agree....that would be the wrong motive.
