does it really matter? How about you argue against my points. I work a job where I telecommute and make the same amount as I did before I moved. Even if I moved to a place where its cheaper I think I should still get the same pay for the same work.

you stay saying stupid ass shyt, moron

TLR don't care. They want to be in the position of the exploiter.

G, I'm legit curious. What should be done here? Localized pay is pretty much standard across all of corporate save a few industries (consulting). Last year I interviewed for a role with openings across the NE. The pay for that role had a $20K range depending on which city I chose to locate in.

Friend of mine works at a large accounting firm. Once she got promoted she took her new salary DC down to ATL. Firm localized her pay but she was fine with that since she got a pay bump before leaving.

Employees can still choose to stay in SF and get full pay or locate elsewhere.

:stopitslime: Yeah I get market value, and they are clearly devalue folks hard earn work. If you paid 100K in DC for Cap One, you paid 100K in Texas for the same job.

Lol, funny you mention Cap One. My friend worked there before. When he moved from their NYC to DC office they took a bit off his salary. He said it was cool since he was moving to HQ and getting closer to the key decision maker.

Funny how people assume they’ll hire more Americans or keep the number they have.

There're a litany of industries that are going to see some blowback IF remote work takes off the way people dream. I don't foresee a widespread implementation anytime soon as these corporations just can't break these expensive leases. But in a few years if WFH becomes the "new normal" (ugh) a lot of service jobs that rely on that real estate being used and those office workers using it will be lost.

But employers have always seemed willing to sacrifice efficiency and even cost savings if it means employees will be miserable in their jobs so who knows what will happen beyond the tech companies getting behind this.

didn't even think about that angle..

damn service jobs would definitely take a hit
