@hexagram23 ....all this arguing, and no one has YET names said Japanese actress
i dont agree that they wont give an unknown acctress a shot. look at preciousYou do if you watch foreign movies.
Breh, check my history, I watch more foreign movies than probably 90% of this board. And I can name actors/actresses of every race, including Japanese.
My point is, they ain't gonna give a completely unknown actress a spot in a movie just because her race matches the character. To make things worse, the main people supporting this argument can't even name any Japanese actresses because they don't watch foreign movies.
So if they don't support these people by checking for their movies, why should Hollywood randomly give them a shot when it's $150-$200 mill on the line?
Fred.

Unknown who matches the book. and u saying that there isnt any jap american actress out there? I dont care about your foreign movie resume sounds like u just want to boast. but they give unknown people shots all the time. i dont know shyt about manga tho. of course they gonna cac it up. but it would be nice to see the whitewashing stop.
Sam worthington.C'mon son....you know damn well "Precious" was relatively low budget by Hollywood standards.
"GITS" is a sci-fi epic, that shyt will be $100+ mill easy. They ain't casting unknowns in any of the remotely important parts.
And people know my resume. If you're into foreign movies, I've been in that thread, actively talking about shyt I've seen or am watching. This ain't any boasting shyt, any more than "check my resume on rap" would be for The Booth, or "check my resume on video games" would be in The Arcadium. I actually know my shyt.
Fred.
I didn't name a Japanese actress because it has no bearing on any of the points I tried to make in this thread, in fact you could make a case that it's counter intuitive to my argument My whole point is that it's a inherently Japanese storyline and the character itself is Japanese there for Hollywood should use this opportunity to actually push a unknown(to the mainstream) actress that actually identifies with the race of the character then to slapstick a blonde hair blued eyed chick into the role. Your point is "uh uh uh I have no point but name me a Japanese actress cause if I don't know the person I and others won't watch." Like that isn't the biggest excuse as to why these Hollywood executives feel its ok to whitewash shyt.
To satisfy your backwards ass inquiry Shinobu Terajima would do well. She has that poweful milf vibe that the actual character exudes plus she's *gasp* Japanese. She was on Ryoma which was one of the best J Dramas of all time
Sam worthington.
come on son. dont tell me an unknown dont get big parts. but i respect ya movie knowledge but i aint no slacker myself. they whitewashing this like everything else.
Sam Worthington was an actor for a minute before he got major roles.Sam worthington.

bytch from kill bill, gogo? Lol. shyt idk.Sam Worthington was in a gang of shyt prior to "Avatar", and made a name for himself in Australia. He was acclaimed before that movie.
"It should be a Japanese actress" is problematic because:
1. There isn't really any well known ones in America.
2. Therefore it would have to be someone relatively unknown.
No shots, but can you name a Japanese equivalent of Sam Worthington? Because I honestly can't. I was gonna say ol girl from "Hannibal" but she's Korean.
Fred.
ay breh any good japanese movies come out lately? been mostly watching korean flicks
So what if shes random...she can be the next big thing. we wont ever know cuz she ainy gonna get no shot at it. whitewashng.Sam Worthington was an actor for a minute before he got major roles.
These dudes are talking about a random brand new japanese actress doe....
