Embiid getting disrespected like crazy not receiving a single vote, not even a third place vote. Media don't like how he speaks off the court and they're holding it against him. Smart a deserving winner however.

He leads the entire defense. You can hear him during the games calling out the players and getting them to their assignments on practically every defensive possession. He does this as a guard on the perimeter:wow:, much harder to do than when Bron was doing it as a safety.

I was told the core of the Celts defense was WIlliams..then he goes down and I'm hearing it's Smart.

NBA awards are comedy

No. Marcus is and always has been the leader on defense. I’m not sure where you were hearing that, but it’s wrong. Rob roams and plays the anchor. Marcus leads it in its entirety. Even from the bench.

This is really a product of great organizational discipline…there have been so many calls to trade this dude over the years but they stuck with him I think he’s the longest tenured Celt and look at how it’s paying off ..nikkas always quick to run someone out of town if they don’t pop as a “superstar” or get the accolades but these kind of glue guys are instrumental to prolonged success..congrats

It's still crazy that Tim Duncan never won a Defensive Player Of The Year award

It feels like generally TD picked up defense during the playoffs. In the regular season he never put up monster defensive stats. Never led the league in blocks and was never seen as that guy on D really. Early on his career Mutombo was seen as the de facto rim protector, in his prime it was Ben Wallace and later on it became Dwight. :yeshrug:
