Without proper context it is..
The context was given.
It was HE who didn't have the proper context, catering to a small subgroup of North-Eastern living caribbean immigrants - who didn't end up moving to Africa.
They already left a black country for a white one.
The concept of "Africa for Africans" (as far as the "western diaspora" is concerned) came from MARTIN DELANY.

:snoop:

Dissing Marcus Garvey is disgraceful
Disrespecting those who were here before you came is disgraceful as well. You can’t go into another country and start dictating shyt without getting buy in from the majority that was here before you stepped foot in the country.

You can’t speak for me when you don’t understand my struggle.

Garvey is always presented in a way that encourages idolatry, that's why people are having a hard with this and/or just outright dismissing what's being posted.

i've noticed that in this new aged shea butter twitter era that its now cool to disrespect Garvey and say he never really did shyt

nah, the average black person doesnt even know who Marcus Garvey is.

they wiped breh out the history books like the Ancient Egyptians... almost like he never existed :dead:

which made me respect even more..... when the cacs erase your name outta history, thats how you know its real.

They would've wiped the Haitians out the history books too, if the Louisiana purchase never happened.

More people (black and white) know who Garvey is than the people who fathered his style/agenda:usure:

furthermore, it's not disrespect to critically examine our forefathers. Where did they go wrong? What types of mistakes did they make? How often were they made? If they were made of the same type, with some frequency, by what method of analysis failed them and produced such errors? History allows us to get answers to these questions.

reading the things here is tough, especially for me given the lionization of Garvey. But it is absolutely necessary to see him as a human being, because he definitely is not a lion.

And They almost did it with Malcolm X.
This and that are not the same thing.
Marcus Garvey bit off too much for himself to chew, did not fully understand African American social dynamics, and never even set foot in Africa.
He went to the South and encouraged them to TURN UP THE LYNCHING to "further his plans".
People try to malign Du Bois but he was NOT FOR THE DISRESPECT.
Comparing Garvey's fine dining friendships with Klan members to the tense meetings between the NOI and American Nazi Party = an uneducated surface level reach.

Nobody erased him out of history, and most black people in the US know who he is. He just didn't do much FOR BLACK AMERICANS outside of grandstanding and symbolism.
How many people did he transport to Africa?
Do you think he's the originator of his ideas or did he move to a place because he "was inspired"?

Maybe North American whites weren't "scared" because they didn't have colonial investments.

But the French white male & the British white male who had colonies in Africa & The Caribbean were most definitely on high alert.

and by extension, the North American white male who has always been allied with his European cousins was definitely never gonna allow his agenda to flourish domestically or abroad.

The North American white male was never in support of black men sabotaging the economic success of his European allies.... that would never happen in a million years.
The United States IS their colonial investment.
The North American white male was NOT always allied with his "european cousins", he bodied them and told them gtfo or "go to canada".
The same happened with the French.
Then Americanism happened and crushed "white ethnicity" into one thing. It wasn't "Pan Whitism", it was New American cacs saying "get down or lay down" to the entirety of cacdom.
and it worked - Until China bossed up.

yup....the whole "back to africa" thing was an older Afram talking point via Free African Society and Paul Cuffee (realized BEFORE ACS came along) that Garvey tried to resurrect:

West Indians were not even really interested in that. They mainly flocked to Garvey because he was "one" of them. As @xoxodede already pointed out, West Indians were his biggest supporters in the North

Garvey messed up because he was conflating the Jamaican/West Indian problem on THEIR land with the Afram one in the USA while mixing West Indian racial beliefs that were the opposite of Afram ones:

Garvey hated "mulattos" more than he hated white people

this is probably the reason Garvey found that KKK harmless while sh1tting on "mixed" looking black leaders:russ:...must be that Caribbean Colorline fuking with him:lolbron:A deeper look into this:
