The Sweet Science
Sorry @krackdagawd but Nevada has made all fighters above 135 wear 10 oz gloves since 2006. They amended said rule in 08 for Cotto vs Cheatto in which fighters (starting at lightweight ) have a choice between 8 and 10 oz and if they cant agree than its automatically 10 oz gloves.

Floyd wore 10oz gloves against DLH. It was a fight at JMW....10oz gloves are the regulated size by the commissions. Floyd said he had to wear the 10oz "heavyweight" gloves because they were more rounded and contained more padding.

http://www.boxingscene.com/mayweather-no-issue-with-gloves-cotto-bout--52141

Floyd didnt wear 10oz gloves against Marquez or Ortiz breh.

This is not true either. Marcos Maidana's gloves are the same exact gloves that Cotto wore against Floyd, Everlast MX gloves, except Chino's were 8oz gloves and Cotto's were 10oz gloves because they were fighting at 147 and 154 respectively.

Chino's gloves werent any different than the stock pair of Everlast MX gloves, which WERE approved by the NSAC Commission, except they were more "used" because Chino used them in all his previous fights winning some and losing some.

Floyd didnt let him wear the approved gloves by the commission (after the 1st pair were thrown out, the brand new out the box gloves delivered by the Everlast company themselves were also "not good enough" for Floyd even though he let Cotto wear them) and ALSO refused to let him wear the still in the box Cleto Reyes gloves that were delivered by that company, and boxers such as Manny Pacquiao/Amir Khan/Adrien Broner wear:mjpls:

Look at their KO records, look at their fights, it's obvious that Maidana is the much harder puncher of the 3 breh.

Chris Algieri, who is fighting Pacquiao in November JUST said yesterday that the hardest puncher and hardest punch he's ever taken was from Marcos Maidana.........in SPARRING at that. Helmets on and everything.:damn:

And he's saying that coming OFF a fight with Ruslan Provodnikov who's known to be a very hard hitter as well:whew:

His power is real breh.

I was inaccurate about the gloves which is fine. My bad on that. I was going by memory and didn't verify the information before i posted it.

Since we are going off boxers quotes than check this:

http://www.boxingnews24.com/2014/05/mayweather-cotto-and-canelo-hit-harder-than-maidana/

Floyd mentioned that Cotto and Canelo hit harder than Maidana. The first fight against Maidana it pretty much showed that his power wasn't effective as it should be.

I think Floyd is gonna say that, but we'll see:yeshrug:

An effective counter puncher like Floyd can easily neutralize volume punching so this whole 100 punches per round in training shyt is irrelevant from a tactical standpoint...It's good to know Maidana's got the stamina but he's not coming anywhere near that output on fight night...

Floyd's problem the first time around was letting this dude pin him on the ropes and rough him up...If Floyd keeps the fight in the center of the ring Maidana will be lucky to let off 20 punches a round and his connect ratio will be atrocious...
Maidana won the first round on all 3 scorecards and he threw…100 punches that round. He threw just over 71 punches a round in the first fight. Maybe 100 punches is a little too much, but 85+ is very possible. And the more punches Maidana threw, the more competitive he was. The first 6 rounds of the fight, where Maidana had more energy, were a tossup. It's no coincidence that Maidana gave Floyd his toughest fight in a long time and threw more punches than anyone ever has against Floyd. If Maidana's stamina is improved and he throws more punches, then we're in for another close fight, regardless of how well Floyd moves.

They changed that law in 2008 so Vegas could get the first Cotto/Margarito fight since both fighters wanted to use 8 oz gloves and as a result Vegas was being excluded as a choice for the fight venue.
The new rule is fighters can use either 8 or 10 oz gloves but if an agreement cannot be made between the two parties then both fighters will automatically have to wear 10 oz gloves.

They just jerking us around for attention? What is going on here?
I mean the undercard sucks, no one really wanted the rematch...is this all to try and hype the fight (Cotto-Martinez)?

Just like I'm still waiting for that quote you were going to bring back when Floyd wouldn't be fighting Maidana. :mjlol:

but I never said floyd wouldnt be fighting maidana

This is not a debate where Im saying Floyd wont be fighting Maidana, and you say yes he will. This is just me telling why I dont want to see the fight, and your telling me your stance is more of reality...reality of what? I never said the fight wont happen :wtf:

Listen breh. I know Porter has a mandatory so he cant fight in Sept. I know Thurman wont be a big draw for the ppv, I know Khan has Ramadan, I know the issues surrounding the Cotto fight. I know Maidana would be a big draw, and since he gave floyd a close fight, it "makes the most sense"

There, I just typed it out for you...better now? I know all of this, I STILL dont want to see the Maidana rematch. I dont give a fukk about why the other fights cant happen. I still dont want to see the fight.

Now, my point is, if Maidana is the only option why are you guys crusading so hard for the rematch? if it has to happen, then it will happen right?. some nikkas are still not going to want to see the rematch, DEAL with it. None of you have successfully been able to change our minds, or our stance on the fight, so your wasting your time.

actually I thoroughly understand his options. I just dont want to see the maidana rematch. why? ive already explained why

If Floyd has no choice but to take the rematch, then so be it. but I have a feeling that even when he beats him more clearly, nikkas gonna harp on the first bout even more and say Maidana should of won the first fight.

Im just tired of people moving the goal post when it comes to floyd.
