Rock Stand Up>Chapelle Stand Up
Chapelle Show>Chris Rock Show
and all Rock's movies are pretty wack.
When this niga was talking bout how terrorists never take black hostages and then he imitated how a black person would read a hostage note i swear brehs, I was fukking never laughed that hard in my life
His charisma works for him, that's why he can do 3 hours on stage with no material, it's funny watching him smoke a cigarette for some reasondave is the best storytellinng commedian and naturally funny guy ever imo...his material isnt as polished as others but they work because he is just naturally funny. not to say his writing is shyt but anybody else doing the chappelle's show or saying those jokes wonnt work
some of us were Chappelle fans before half baked
I feel you. Everyone has their reasons why they don't feel or do feel a comedian. I just feel like Rock became so popular because he said a lot of stuff Caucasoid people wanted to say, but couldn't (e.g.,black people versus nikkas). I remember in 7th grade my white science teacher thought Chris Rock was so hilarious. I peep game now.
I never found anything profound about his social commentary, but I'm a trained sociologist amongst other things. He's not Carlin. He's that dude in the barbershop that rambles on about dumb stuff he "thinks" is poignant and old wives tales -- like, "There's no money in the cure, the money is in the treatment," and other rubbish. Also, for me, I think there is something to be said for humor that is subtle. Dave Chapelle is a master at this, being able to say something funny, but that's actually really insightful on a subtle level in terms of human behavior and psychology. Rock's brand of humor is the polar opposite of that. It's forced, and he beats the audience over the head with his faux social commentary trying to solidify his "point," via screaming and antics. Screaming has never been funny, it wasn't funny when Sam Kinnison did it, and it isn't funny when Rock does it.
He's wack to me, but to each their own.
even his interviews are classic
@ him talking about the kkk
"You see a plane flying over Afghanistan and you don't know whether it's a bomb....or a tasty snack. HOOORAY! It's a food plane! Right here America!"
