I'm not gonna say he was an "overnight success" but the overwhelming success and popularity of those first two seasons of Chappelle Show shouldn't count against him when it comes to fans going back and appreciating his stand up genius. Chappelle as a writer/producer and creator was always on another level people just needed that wake up call. Chappelle Show was it

I agree but Chappelle Show makes some cats overrate his stand up material. I agree he is an overall GOAT comedian but it's more so because of Chappele show.

dave is the best storytellinng commedian and naturally funny guy ever imo...his material isnt as polished as others but they work because he is just naturally funny. not to say his writing is shyt but anybody else doing the chappelle's show or saying those jokes wonnt work

Dave is better at shows and movies...his stand up is like a six grader telling jokes.

Chapelle is funny as fukk but I never thought his stand ups were classic status. Very overrated but they're still good. Rock, Murphy, Pryor are stand up masters.

he talks about some REAL shyt.. i know most comedians do... but when he went off on the price of p*ssy plummeting.. now you see these chicks giving it up for some facebook likes.. or when he went off on women about monica lewinsky "most of y'all fukked a dude you regret.. and i bet the nikka worked at kenny shoes or some shyt.. he wasn't no president".. the kobe shyt talking bout he was balling like he was playing for his freedom.. lol
