If you think you're lonely now, ohhh girl...
IMO, Chris Rock is so overrated it's crazy. His comedy is so forced and contrived that I can sit through it and not crack one smile. "That's right," said ad nauseum isn't funny. He's actually irritating to me. I don't know if Chapelle is the goat; that's such a subjective thing. I do think Killing 'em softly and FWIW are absolutely brilliant, though. I also think that he's easily more talented and funnier than Chris Rock by a vast margin.

We all got our own opinions but rock was way better stand up performer than chappelle to me. Very diverse as far as topics and made a lot of sense. Chappelle is a genius too but not when it came to stand up. Funny but I'd find myself getting drowsy during his routines. His show was pure fire of course. Its a losing argument either way tho Cuz both comedians have too many loyal fans.

I feel you. Everyone has their reasons why they don't feel or do feel a comedian. I just feel like Rock became so popular because he said a lot of stuff Caucasoid people wanted to say, but couldn't (e.g.,black people versus nikkas). I remember in 7th grade my white science teacher thought Chris Rock was so hilarious. I peep game now. :birdman:

I never found anything profound about his social commentary, but I'm a trained sociologist amongst other things. He's not Carlin. He's that dude in the barbershop that rambles on about dumb stuff he "thinks" is poignant and old wives tales -- like, "There's no money in the cure, the money is in the treatment," and other rubbish. Also, for me, I think there is something to be said for humor that is subtle. Dave Chapelle is a master at this, being able to say something funny, but that's actually really insightful on a subtle level in terms of human behavior and psychology. Rock's brand of humor is the polar opposite of that. It's forced, and he beats the audience over the head with his faux social commentary trying to solidify his "point," via screaming and antics. Screaming has never been funny, it wasn't funny when Sam Kinnison did it, and it isn't funny when Rock does it.

He's wack to me, but to each their own.

Sounds like u resent rock for speaking his mind. Or that a white person thouht he was great. Chappelles core audience is white. White people love chappelle way more than rock. that's a fact.

I don't resent Rock. I don't think he's funny; nothing more or less. I don't think you understand what I'm saying at all, or worse yet, you're intentionally formulating straw-man arguments. So, I'm going to leave it alone. I agree to disagree about Chris' comedic talents. Be cool.
