Yeah a lot of actors are hard to understand when they mumble or shout. And scripted dialogue is not like normal, natural dialogue so some shyt is confusing. shyt even in everyday life how often do you have to ask people to repeat themselves? Everyday...

Its not mandatory for me, but I usually like to know exactly what's being said. Never use them for action movies or black movies tho. That ruins it lol...

Yeah, I turn subtitles on to everything I watch. Mainly because you NEVER know when a nikka with an accent will pop up (ex: Sons of Anarchy). Or when some nikka will start whispering. The only thing I hate is when the words are too big and yellow. That and when I read the words and the action hasn't happened on screen yet (comedy shows and thrillers). I usually turn them off.

I really started on the subs wave when I had a girl friend whose first language wasn't English. She would turn them on when we watch flicks (actual movies). Didn't bother me none so I started doing it because it helps when you don't exactly hear what was just said. I watch everything with subs nowadays unless they are the scrolling type (sports/ live events) or if they are slower than the audio/ video on the screen (videos on demand and older movies).

I also rock with subs for anime because I prefer hearing the OG audio in it's native tongue over waiting for/ listening to the dub. The only exceptions are DBZ and Cowboy Bebop. I will never listen to those in Japanese.

I used to hate em but now I can't live without em. I live with a few people who like to get loud and this way I don't miss anything. Especially if my lil nieces come over tearin shyt up, it is a necessity. Besides that, a lot of movies get quiet out of nowhere and people whisper and you miss what they said so sure titles save you from rewinding.

That's perfect for movies when you have to adjust the volume for when background noises too man high, and they speaking so damn low
