So anyone who is on that 'both sides' shyt in TLR.
Can you further explain what you feel “both sides shyt” really means as a general philosophy?

Because if it’s being used anyway like some of you use “you-tuber”, it’s probably being informed by the loudest, most ignorant, ill informed person you disagree with.

Im guilty of this myself. I have to admit when I mention “Black Liberal”, I’m usually picturing an effeminate, highly but worthlessly educated bi-racial , cat that never spent time around Black Americans.

I kinda have this Toure type characticture in my mind when I debate with some of you. Maybe it’s unresolved trauma from the worst of my HBCU days.

What about the concept of “Both Sides” in the spirit of how Malcolm presented it, is so off putting?

nothing is wrong about what Malcolm is saying... the issue lies within how his words are being parroted without context and the fact that he himself changed..his thoughts changed as time went on.. A lot of what he spoke on was relevant to today but some of it was relevant only to how the parties were constructed and not how they were constructed as he aged and certainly not as they are constructed today.

So anyone who is on that 'both sides' shyt in TLR and anyone who advocates for people to stay home and not vote is saying so only to protect the Republican party.
I've asked older mentors and family friends about bothsiders. The shyt on the Coli always befuddled me so I figured I'd ask them for their real world perspectives. They're between their late 30s to early 50s. Every single one of them said those who say things like "both sides are bad" "don't vote for the lesser of two evils" are probably undercover Republicans

I talked to a cac who went to college with me a while back. I asked him if he was a Trump supporter. He said "I like Trump I support him somewhat". Before this conversation, he told me in passing "both candidates are bad neither of them need to be in office"

Just food for thought

It's a simple tactic. Republicans can get their own to turn out on election day but their views are not the majority. So they need independents and some liberals to stay home in order to win elections.

So instead of explaining what they are about (because their views aren't really widely accepted) their tactic is to drive home this idea that both parties are the same and you shouldn't even bother giving it a thought..

Then they can ramp up their own turnout and continue to win elections. This is what happen on TLR. They don't want you involved in the process because they are protecting the Republican party.

This is the idiots thread gathering

We talking about getting trump impeached after a terrorist attack by neo nazis and white supremacist on the countries capitol and this is what is on your mind today. I’m all for y’all saying both sides suck and all. Who doesn’t agree with that. But one got you $600 and the other wanted you to have nothing. One wants you to get another $2000. The other party wants you to get nothing. So how about you tell the IRS you don’t want that money hypocrits. But none of those policies affect you right? One wants free healthcare for all and get labeled as socialist by the party that wants you to have to go into debt for education and healthcare. I don’t give a fukk about any politician , but if you did not vote you are a dumbass. You are not an adult. And like people already said, don’t put malcolm in a box, given there was not Trump in office. You don’t know what he would say if he was Here today. He could akcnowledge very well that getting Trump out of office is within our best interest at the moment, despite having negative feelings about Biden. All presidents outside of Obama were racist to me. But we can drink from whatever water fountain and have freedom to go and do what we want because our ancestors VOTED stupid. It didn’t magically happen.

but fukk it I don’t care if you voted or not. Do you. But again to make these threads right after a terrorist attack and dems trying to impeach this man immediately you make a both sides thread. Even if I felt the way you did, I would not think it was a appropriate moment to do it on today of all days. You are a idiot period. Grow up and stop being a dumbass. You want free education for your children. You want free healthcare for your family. You want marijuana legalized so that black people won’t be locked up for that dumb shyt. There is a lot of more progressive policies that were not even up for consideration back in the day. There was no talk on free healthcare, education, ending private prisons or none of that shyt back then. Don’t put this man in a box when the political agendas were completely different.:aicmon:

Not replying to you dumb mf either, so you might as well not respond, cuz dead serious I will not even click on the alert of a new quote :beli:peace out

Okay. So you believe what Malcolm was saying at that time is no longer relevant or applicable to the political landscape today?

Interesting.

Because his critics back then , sound almost identical to his critics now. And Trump is almost identical to Wallace.

Not sure I totally agree. Thanks for answering without the insults though.

If the thread is about the so-called differences between Malcolm and the Nation of Islam, you'll never post from the NOI's perspective

That the Nation of Islam is not apolitical
You moved the goal post. A person more familiar with the official NOI narrative is always free to challenge or correct anything that I post from the words of Malcolm X. When the facts prove me wrong, I concede.
You seem to be knowledgeable so you are always free to weigh in. For example, from my understanding the NOI membership was apolitical during Malcolm's time, and Muhammad discouraged members from voting. I asked you to tell me if/when that policy was changed.

Tag me when you post it.

Who knows what a second term would’ve looked like? We don’t know what’s coming. Remember, if it wasn’t for his fumbling the COVID response he would’ve won reelection by one of the biggest margins in this nations history, and would’ve got an even bigger share of the Black vote than he did, which increased as it was among Black males.

There really isn’t much difference in the elections in Haiti and here when you get right down to it, appearances aside. Both tightly controlled with a predetermined outcome. All parties in both nations answer to outside interests. Haiti to the US predominantly, which itself answers to International Finance.

The USA runs the elections in Haiti and they run em here. They ran em in South Africa, Afghanistan, and a number of other places around the globe. Democracy not taking root in Haiti has less to do with the Haitian people and more to do with the ones who control Haitian politics, and we all know that isn’t the Haitians.

Y’all peeping the game Trump ran is just the same game that’s been run, Trump just wasn’t polished enough to pull it off completely. I guess most of you are too young to remember what the country was like during the Bush Jr era. Wasn’t too different than today, except for the fact that the Bush family is a member of the Establishment so you weren’t ever going to get him inciting a mob to violence. But then again he stole an election too, and the scene was almost as wild. It was just limited to Florida.

One more thing about Malcolm. His hajj wasn’t the first time he’d been to the Middle East and seen the so called “Brotherhood of all Muslims.” Khalid said he’d been to the Middle East on a couple of occasions before that on official NOI business, so the man wasnt seeing anything for the first time during his hajj. He was slightly disingenuous describing his great awakening after he came back from Mecca if were being totally honest. Besides, as brilliant as he was, he was just working with the info he had at the time. We’re supposed to have expanded on his knowledge base, but it seems too many Black people are content being stuck back in the civil rights era.

And it was more than attempts on his life. Him and Elijah didn’t get a chance to speak because the letters and calls were intercepted by people in Elijahs circle, some of whom turned out to be government plants.
Trump tried to block the peaceful transfer of power in what he (falsely) claimed was a disputed election. AL Gore stepped aside and conceded in 2000 during an election which was legally still in dispute. The stability of the country appeared to more important to Gore than bruised ego or a lost election.
Trump placed his selfish need for validation ahead of everything, even the stability and order of the country. And he is right at this moment tripling down inciting MAGA loonies with fake story about how this election was stolen.

Disagree with your takes about Haitian politics and about American elections.
Haiti become a country in 1804, and was formally recognized by the US in 1862.
The very first leader of Haiti was assassinated, and there were coups, splits, etc before the US diplomatic ties were in place. Complex story, but while the U.S,. meddles in the affairs of other countries, the divisions existed and flared up early and often in our history. Coup detat is a solution for political problems and is embedded in the culture.
If you meet a Haitian person offline and he lists US occupation/meddling and war indemnity to France as the reasons for the current condition, and he doesn't mention the political instability that took root since the beginning, He is not keeping it 100.
Whites study, heighten, and exploit tensions that exist among groups for sure....but those tensions predate the forming of the country.

-American elections being predetermined? The facts seem to say different. The two party system and the influence and control of donors means that there are candidates with better chance than others. But Obama beat the Clinton Machine in 2008, in the primary, and Trump beat that same machine in 2016. Neither victory was likely going into the races. An unseen hand placing Trump in office? Disagree.
Georgia voting blue in presidential election? Two Dem. Senators winning runoffs in GA?
There's no unseen hand predetermining the winner in America. During the course of a campaign, all sorts of things factor into who eventually wins.
Big money, political endorsements, organizing, people responding to the candidate, debate showings, scandals, etc
If Clyburn doesn't endorse Biden ahead of SC primary, would his campaign have even continued ?
-Shoutout to Stacey Abrams for losing a close governor's race, and then assembling a team of folks to raise the money and put the work in to shift the 2020 GA vote.

About Malcolm? What I will concede is that after the split from the NOI , that to get things done he had to repair relationships or establish them with Civil Rights leaders that he'd been openly destroying for years. He also had do p.r. to undo the image that had been created about him by the white press. He understood the power of image. While there was some level of rebranding, most of it was done by writers AFTER he died.
In fact, they revised what the actual letter said
Mecca, Saudi Arabia – April 26th, 1964

I have just completed my pilgrimage (Hajj) here to the Holy City of Mecca, the hollyiest City on earth, which is absolutely forbidden for non-Muslims to even rest their eyes upon. This pilgrimage is the most important event in the life of all Muslims, and there are over 226,000 who are here right now from outside of Arabia. From Turkey came the largest contagion, around 50,000 in over 600 buses. This refutes Westerner propaganda that Turkey is turning away from Islam.

I know of only 2 others who have made the actual Hajj to Mecca from America, and both of them are West Indians who also converts to Islam. Mr. Elijah Muhammad, 2 of his sons, and a couple of his followers visited Mecca outside the Hajj season, and their visit is known as the “Omra”, or Lesser Pilgrimage. It is con-

(Page 2) -sidered a blessing in the Muslim World even to make the “Omra”. I very much doubt that 10 American citizens have ever visited Mecca, and I do believe that I might be the first American born Negro to make the actual Hajj itself. I’m not saying this to boast but only to point out what a wonderful accomplishment and blessing it is, and also to enable you to be in a better position intellectually to evaluate it in its proper light, and then your own intelligence can place it in its proper place.

This pilgrimage to the Holliest of Cities as been a unique experience for me, but one which as made me the recipient of numerous unexpected blessings beyond my wildest dreams.

Shortly after my arrival in Jeddah, I was met by Prince Muhammed Faisal who informed me that his illustrious father, his Excellency Crowned Prince Faisal had decret that I be that I The ruler of Arabia be his Guest. What has happened since then would take several books to described, but through the ***** of his Excellency I have since stayed in ***** hotels in Jeddah, Mecca, Mina – with a private car, a driver, a religious guide, and many servants at my disposal.

(Page 3)
Never have I been so highly honored and never had such honor and respect made me feel more humble and unworthy. Who would believe that such blessing could be heaped upon an American Negro!!! (But) in the Muslim World, when one accepts Islam and ceases to be white or Negro, Islam recognizes all men as Men because the people here in Arabia believe that God is One, they believe that all people are also One, and that all our brothers and sisters is One Human Family.

I have never before witnessed such sincere hospitality and the practice of true brotherhood as I have seen it here in Arabia. In fact all I have seen and experienced on this pilgrimage as forced me to “re-arrange” much of thoughts pattern and to toss aside some

(Page 4)
of my previous conclusions. This “adjustment to reality” wasn’t to difficult for me to undergo, because despite my firm conviction in whatever I believe, I have always tried to keep an open mind, which is absolutely necessary to reflect the flexibility that must go hand in hand with anyone with intelligent quest for truth never comes to an end.

There are Muslims here of all colors and from every part of this earth. During the past days here in Mecca (Jeddah, Mina, and Mustaliph) while understanding the rituals of the Hajj, I have eaten. From the same plate, drank from the same glass and slept on the same bed or rug – with Kings, potentates and other forms of rulers – ******* with fellow Muslims whose skin was the whitest of white, whose eyes was the bluest of blue, and whose hair was the blondest of blond – I could look into their blue eyes and see that they regarded me as the same (Brothers), because their faith in One God (Allah) had actually removed “white” from their mind, which automatically changed their attitude and their behavior (towards) people of other colors. Their beliefs in the Oneness as made them so different from American whites that their colors played no part in my mind in my dealing with them. Their sincere

(Page 5)
To One God and their acceptance of all people as equals makes them (so called “Whites”) also accepted as equals into the brotherhood of Islam along with the non-whites.

If white Americans could accept the religion of Islam, if they could accept the Oneness of God (Allah) they too could then sincerely accept the Oneness of Men, and cease to measure others always in terms of their “difference in color”. And with racism now plaguing in America like an incurable cancer all thinking Americans should be more respective to Islam as an already proven solution to the race problem.

The American Negro could never be blamed for his racial “animosities” because his are only reaction or defense mechanism which is subconscious intelligence has forced him to react

(Page 6)
against the conscious racism practiced (initiated against Negroes in America) by American Whites. But as America’s insane obsession with racism leads her up the suicidal path, nearer to the precipice that leads to the bottomless pits below, I do believe that Whites of the younger generation, in the colleges and universities, through their own young, less hampered intellects will see the “Handwriting on the Wall” and turn for spiritual salvation to the religion of Islam, and force the older generation to turn with them—

This is the only way white America can worn off the inevitable disaster that racism always leads to, and Hitler’s Nazi Germany was best proof of this.

Now that have visited Mecca and gotten my own personal spiritual path adjusted to where I can better understand the depth of my religion (Islam), I shall be living in a couple days to continue my journey into our African Fatherland. Allah willing, by May 20th before my return to New York, I shall have visited Sudan, Kenya, Tanguanyika, Zanzibar, Nigeria, Ghana, and Algeria.
You may use this letter in anyway you desire,

El-Hajj Malik El-Shabbazz
(Malcolm X)
.

In life, he kept it 100. His letter got a lot of publicity while he was away, and he did this press interview with American reporters upon his return.

As you can hear, he clarified right away the difference between what the letter said, and what the realities were for he and other Black people were living in America.
If he was trying to do a full rebrand, he wouldn't have continued to openly call out American racism here.

= = = = = = = = = =
The experiences of a religious pilgrimage is a life changing experience, and would be much different than just traveling to a region.

Not sure what the exact nature of his earlier visits to the region were, but he was a high profile international figure at the time of his hajj. The personal generosity by rich Muslims who admired him is covered in the letter. Hajj attracts Muslims from all regions of the world, so he'd be in close contact with a wider variety of people than those he saw in passing on earlier trips to the region. That was the main takeaway from the letter, the close personal interaction with African, Mena, Euro, and Asian Muslims during a religious pilgrimage.

You played college football, the experience of Homecoming, Bowl, or Superbowl games is different than regular football games. And men from different backgrounds bond and interact under that common team in ways that rarely occur outside of sports.

Multiply that multiple times for a pilgrimage.

I'm guilty as charged for using "bothsiders" and "youtubers" terms derisively.
We discussed this briefly recently.

Ignorance is dangerous, and promoting ignorance is irresponsible. Not sure if it's the nature of the platform or just the coli-famous yters posted here, but ignorance is most definitely promoted and encouraged here.
Black people being ignorant has never been funny, nor is there a group of people here who can least afford to be ignorant about reality than Black men.

Not sure what your litmus test is for elitism, but what you have termed elitism is just people fed up with it.

Trump is in full tyrant dictator mode, not giving a single fukk about something that gets taken for granted here , peaceful transfer of power and political stability of the nation. A move that he telegraphed for months, that was cosigned
by Rep. elected officials, and now being acted upon by MAGA loonies.
Unprecedented actions by President, members of Congress, and citizens.
How is "both sides are the same" even coming out of people's mouths in this climate?
