Its like how movie studios like to make movies rated pg 13 in order to reach the widest audience.
they just need to invest money into the clean version of all their hits so they can reach people like this too.

Artists need to go back to having official clean version of their songs like they used to wheee words were completely changed. Always thought Shake It Fast, Back That Thang Up, and Get Your Roll On were better as clean versions than album versions. I know it’s a different era but they need to start doing that again. But in the current era, they barely even drop singles for album rollouts. They just drop albums out of nowhere and whatever song has the most streams initially is what they choose as the single.

Yep, plus would make it a lot easier for your music to be used in movies/tv, and in public at live sporting events and other venues etc. I think even Lupe for a few years now, has been cursing way more in his music than he used to. I respect Meth because he's chilled on that, and peeps didn't even notice because his pen still so sharp.

Dancehall reggae is also suffering, because the current music is far too vulgar.

What’s funny is that Coolio’s biggest hit “Gangsta’s Paradise” was allowed to use the Pastime Paradise sample on one condition: Stevie said no profanities can be used on the song.

And look at how that song helped him crossover! Even won him a Grammy. I’m not saying it wouldn’t have been a hit if he had cursing in it, but it certainly made it easier to get played on radio without censoring the lyrics.

Treach is one of the greatest MCs because he can still make the illest rhymes and he rarely curses.

You can make hard hitting music without having to use obscenities. It’s just lazy at this point if you choose not to.
