The Knicks still like their odds of keeping Carmelo Anthony following their meeting in Los Angeles with Anthony and his agent Leon Rose on Friday night. Despite a report Anthony was “leaning’’ toward leaving the Knicks because of interest from the Bulls and Rockets, Knicks officials did not seem alarmed, according to NBA sources.

According to a source close to president Phil Jackson, “The meeting went well — [Anthony] will still most likely opt out — but all in all, a good meeting.’’ The Knicks were informed about two weeks ago Anthony likely would opt out at the June 23 deadline and become a free agent July 1, despite Jackson’s suggestion he wait a year for free agency.

The Rockets would have to trade former Knick Jeremy Lin and power forward Omer Asik without taking anyone back. “It’s doable but very hard,’’ one league source said of the Bulls’ and Rockets’ scenarios.

Moke Hamilton: Yes. I’ve been hearing it’ll be Shumpert or cash that’ll be sent out. RT @rocboy623: #Knicks end up with a draft pick in this year’s draft?

I've said several times Melo leaving makes no sense . Logically those teams they like to suggest need to do several things to get him , and Miami I Think can't offer him anywhere close to a max deal . Only thing that would make alittle worried is if all the big 3 opt out. Also Melo opting in is so stupid , why would we want to go through this fiasco again ? A signed Melo is a better recruiting tool than having to convince Melo again next year and other FA , we need to be reasonable NYC isn't the draw it should be ( until we show a winning pattern )

trading shump would be extremely stupid.

Neither do I. I still believe in Shump. I got a feeling that Fisher is the type of leader he could possibly thrive under too.

Yeah I don't believe it. Unless the knicks know something health wise about him trading him now when his value is a all time low is stupid.

Towards the end of last year Shump and THJR played well together off the bench. Shumpert stepped up his play but it was too late...Still he did enough to get across the point that his potential is still there. Hes just gotta go out there and pretend like hes playin against Paul Pierce everynight

I hope Phil Jacksons smart enough to keep Shump...at least give him til the trade deadline and see how he does :manny:

Dribble Drills nikka :youngsabo:

I still see him not being aggressive enough when he is obviously the best player on the floor :pachaha:

I don't know why he is showing people. Let the stupid people think athletes should be locked in a gym 24 hrs

Here's my only beef about Shumpert (and I like him).....why are we treating him like he is a 5 year old, lost child that doesn't know what he is supposed to be doing? When all is well, he is trash-talking, alpha-dogging, and dancing ....but once the turbulence hits all I see is frowns and looks of confusion like he needs his hand held.

If you need to train...then train! You need handles and a better jumper? There's videos and trainers for that. For lay-up drills too....This 'potential' talk regarding a 3 or 4 year player is only providing excuses for him. I am tired of the excuses for an under-performing professional that should be motivating himself.

He's not a kid anymore.

'Potential' at this point means you are being lazy.

Ah Shumpert-bashing! One of my favorite subjects. Listen, if they can trade him or a pick in the low teens to 20's and there's a player there that can help right away, they should do it. If not, I am curious to see how he will perform under "Phil Fisher". If he's still a derelict move him at the deadline. If you can...
