People in here talking about "These guys grew up watching MJ/Kobe so the Triangle will be easy to run." :mjlol:

Please quote where what i said literally translated to merely "ppl watched mike so it'll be easy." Obviously it's much deeper than that. NO shyt. :mjlol: And next time quote me. "ppl talkin about...." :mjlol:

I said "people" because you are not the first one to intimate that it is an easy offense to learn....

with player's familiarity with Michael/Kobe, and a general knowledge of the triangle (if ANY of these guys even remotely studied or watched game film growing up, it's exponentially less hard to grasp)

Watching MJ vids, or growing up watching Kobe, hell... even watching and preparing to PLAY the lakers, when they were running a good version of the triangle... none of that prepares you to play in the system. It doesn't prepare you to move away from the ball, to know where other players are going to be, to understand the order of cuts, or the option plays the open up on or off the ball... That's just not how it works.

There is a reason the triangle is taught by so few coaches...

One: It is hard to teach.
Two: You need a very specific personnel set... which I'm not sure the Knicks have yet.
Three: It is hard to learn.

You are not the first to say that it will be easy, or easier, to grasp... Just the latest, and your inclusion of 'familiarity' made made me laugh... like shumpert had "Come Fly With Me" on VHS... so he's already got it mastered.

You got it bruh. CLEARLY you read too deep into what I was implying and didn't attribute any of the other factors I listed before going off on a tangent on why it'll be oh so hard to learn, because I mentioned that they'd be somewhat familiar IF they ever studied film (something professionals actually do, ya know?). I ain't arguing with you. Nowhere in my post did I even use the word easy or say anything was easy to learn. And you're basically preaching to the choir...Oh, watching game film doesn't mean one can play in the Triangle you say? :ohhh: Thanks for the news, breh. :russ:

You're over here making strawman arguments when I was comparing the advantage WE have, over say, a team withOUT all that we've got going on for ourselves, trying to initiate the Triangle. You got it though. :mjlol: fukkin dumb ass Coli nikkas man...

Twist people's words, brehs/brehettes :comeon:. Because "exponentially less hard" = "easy" :patrice:.

:russ: I'm glad I'm not the only one seeing this shyt. Like :mindblown: What the fukk, dumbass nikka? Why even mention some super obvious shyt, as if I said "Hmmmmm they can watch old Michael & Kobe and flourish in the system!!!!" :lolbron:

Then here comes Captain Obvious to the rescue :cape: :mjlol:

Can we get back to legit discussions now? :dahell:

before going off on a tangent on why it'll be oh so hard to learn

Derek said the Summer League team picked up in 2 weeks what other players have taken 2 months to learn. That's because of the coaching staff. They're at more of an advantage than the Lakers/Bulls championship teams (as far as learning faster) because this coaching staff has more experience and success teaching it than they did during those runs. Kerr had a losing record in the Summer League (2-3). I'm sure it's at least partly due to the fact that he can't teach defense like Derek and because he has the weaker coaching staff for what he's trying to teach.

Which is ALL part of what I was alluding to when I mentioned the Phil/Fisher combo, on top of everything else I mentioned (which numb-nuts incorrectly pinpointed and went after). :mjlol: Thank you. We make a good team. If I ever meet you, I'm coppin this for you off rip:

No reason to believe Phil/Fisher can't be a good front office combination. Nobody is disagreeing with that.

I'm a vocal supporter of the new regime.:PhilFinger:

I got to say this intellectually speaking the knicks have been making really smart moves

The coaching should be a knicks strong point whereas it was a weakness last year once Woodson became obsessed with big lineups. We won't really know until December the earliest and if the knicks make the playoffs that will be the real test. However early signs are good.

In addition to this I'm ok with them keeping shump, thJr, and JR. Its literally a race to see who can function the best in the triangle. Better to keep assets anyway for now to make sure you don't get rid if a player who could thrive in the triangle. Stuff like that shows a certain intelligence the knicks have lacked in the recent past. It also shows the FO has faith that Fisher will be able to manage minutes for them all, another thing Woodson couldn't do.

Along with the fact that the knicks brought in player development coaches along with triangle coaches I expect them to have the triangle installed earlier than later. They've basically hired a coaching staff specifically made to teach. And if the summer league team was a test run they all earned their permanent position.
