A lot has been made about them getting used to a new system. My take on that is that the coaching staff should get them up to speed a lot faster than if it were a system they never ran like in Jason Kidd's case when he started coaching. I also don't think they have to "master" it to come out of a weak East. Thoughts?
I feel the same. Also with player's familiarity with Michael/Kobe, and a general knowledge of the triangle (if ANY of these guys even remotely studied or watched game film growing up, it's exponentially less hard to grasp). Not to mention the assistant coaches being brought in, Fisher being THE perfect coach (understands the triangle, multiple rings, floor general & was JUST a player last year -- making for a better bond/respect with current players) for Phil to work with & implement this...As well as the general RESPECT, tight ship, and "I don't wanna be the weak link" mentality that MUST come with working for legends, I think "learning the triangle" isn't exactly as tough as "learning the triangle" should/would be for these guys. The way I see it, after the debacle that was the last 3 or 4 seasons, players can probably FEEL the ship trying to be righted, and I really think it'll translate to a better effort when watching film, being coached, practicing, working out, and executing during games.
We've also got something in Phil & Fish we never really had with our previous 2 coaches, and that's someone who can actually COACH and draw up plays on the fly, for tight-game situations, which in itself, can add a NUMBER of W's in the win column. The changes being made are so encompassing of every aspect of this organization, that only a fakkit would disagree. SO many intangible, underrated, and sublime aspects of Knicks basketball are BOUND to be changed or improved, and if nothing else, our players will be playing to win. Show me a player who wouldn't seize the opportunity, and would be okay with letting Phil Jackson down, and I'll show you one who hasn't made it to the league and probably never will.
Cats can talk stats, talent, ability, and shyt ON PAPER all day, I'm not disputing NONE of that. But this "culture change" is in full effect right now, and what I'm alluding to is just that. #KNICKSTAPE, you either all the way in, or all the way out, motherfukker. Don't come running back on some
"See I knew they had it in em all along" shyt, when things finally start clicking
