People act like we buy a single lottery ticket because of the chance to win.

It's less about the chance to win and more about the enjoyment you get from speculating what you would do with the money.

Same with your favorite basketball team. Will the Knicks win a chip this year? Most likely not.

But if they play an exciting season...I can lose myself and hope like I did when I was a kid.

fukk A TANK SEASON. Make me forget my basketball iq and let my cloudy eyes think we're on the verge of shocking the world.

That's what is worth the price of admission...effort.

We really shouldn't hear anymore tank talk.

It makes no sense to make the 7-8 seed and lose in 5 games against the Bulls/Cavs.
Tank and be in position to get Stanley Johnson; Okafor, Mudiay, Towns, or Henzoja. Worst case scenario you use your top 7 pick to go out and get Cousins or Pekovic 2015 or 2016, then sign Horford in 2016.

You guys are getting too worked up. This season isn't going to be a good one. It's a trial run to see what personel can be kept, and who can be used going forward in 2015.

lmao @ "Why give up a whole season for a shot at a guy...." If you end up with a top 5-7 pick, you get a shot at talent. Even if you didn't get Okafor, there is plenty of talent out there.

I hope the team is good and competitive, but seeing as they're unlikely this season to threaten for a title... might not be a terrible idea - if the season is a scuffle - to think about the future, seeing as the Knicks will be a very different looking team next season, either way.

Name the plenty of talent. We see non-lottery picks end up being the better selections all the time, for the most part the talent level is so close. Timmy was drafted I think like 24th, and if that draft was done over he would be top 10 easily. The draft is crap-shoot! Knicks own their 1st rd pick they can add talent that has a good chance of
being just as good as a lottery pick.

If you're a free-agent why would you want to join a team that's coming off two losing season's....We've seen that script written already, nobody is falling for the "allure" of playing in NY especially with that cut-throat media. You have to have something tangible they can see and say ok the Knicks making moves in the right direction. Knicks have a legitimate chance to win the Atlantic that alone gives them a 4th seed.

Obviously our opinions on Melo differ, imo he's
Top 5, When you have a player of that caliber and paying him the amount you are, you try and field the best team around him every season he's on your team. Phil has already said he feels like this team can win now, when have you known Phil to jump on something he knew wasn't going to be successful, dude not dumb. The Knicks have talented players on the roster we saw flashes even last season as bad as it was. I agree this season is a trial run, but trial run doesn't automatically mean not successful. We will see, I think the Knicks will be better then a lot of people think

But that's 3 reasons why tanking is dumb!

You hit everything spot on. Being a fan is having that hope that your team can pull off the improbable and bring home a chip. And tanking is a bunch of crap. We're supposed to sit through a miserable season of losing, where the talent we already have on the team probably regresses since we're losing so much, go back to being a laughing stock of the league, all for the CHANCE of drafting a POTENTIALLY franchise changing player? Nah I'm good off that. I mean how many champions in recent NBA history tanked? Does tanking have a track record of success?

How about we focus on establishing the triangle, establishing a culture of hard work and accountability, developing our young talent, and building chemistry and cohesion. And after the season is done, we take a look at where we're at, and we draft players/add free agents that fit the puzzle.

I don't know why people keep saying we won't make the playoffs. Last season was a disaster. That roster is a playoff team if you take away the horrible coaching/injuries/and chemistry problems.

We're going to the playoffs at a 5 seed for sure.
