We really need better conflict resolution so these situations to escalate to this level in the first place.

I went out last night and there was a strong protest going, but police were threatening to tow cars parked on the streets so I ended up going back home.

The three cops could have broken up the situation and chose not to. You don't use deadly force when it isn't necessary.

Physically restraining them from behind? At the most extreme, using a taser?
Shooting a child with a knife is the least applicable way to handle this, the most ham-fisted, and the most blood-thirsty.

There were three cops standing right there, so yes - there were "three cops to just break it up" if you're too much of a fukking coward to do so - get off the force.
I grew up with a lot of angry kids, and knives weren't uncommon, but if community members, parents, and teachers could break up and stop altercations I promise you three armored cops could do the same thing.

I agree that maybe a taser should have been used before a knife. But if ole girl goes through and stabs the other girl and she dies, then what?
She wouldn't. Because she'd have been tased. She's not a rampaging animal. She's a small teenager. There would have been no follow-through.
