Not quite sure why this thread got upped by I still think I and @Dead End got it right, the visceral reaction that African-Americans feel when Gay Rights are directly compared and fully equated with the African-American struggle is justified. But to be against the rights of everyone, knowing full well that you understand discrimination better than anyone else is not justified. I'll say it time for the millionth time on here, how a discussion is framed and the way a message is delivered is an important as the goal itself. Just look at all the people who are passive and would not care in the least if gay marriage was allowed who got heated when that fight was directly equated to the struggle of AAs.

I'd also like to add that this thread should serve an example of double-standards, being racist in every other thread hurts your argument when you come into a thread like this and preach about bigotry. That should more or less summarize this thread.

At what age did you choose to be straight ? When did you realize that heterosexual behavior is what you chose to engage in? Are you attracted to men but choose not to engage in sex with them?

I believe his point is that nobody is born a thief, like nobody is born a murderer or a rapist. However external factors after birth outside of their control can influence how a person develops. its unfortunate but thats the way of the world. Some kids are molested, some are hardened from being raised in war zones, some have mental issues, some are raised by criminals and have a twisted sense of morality etc... If a combination of external factors can cause someone to become a rapist or murderer, why cant they cause someone to be gay? For example, many gays admit to being molested as children.

It's amazing to me that religion can poison someone's mind enough to the point where they equate raping or murdering people to having a relationship w/ someone of the same gender. Listen, I don't completely reject the idea that certain events can result in someone being attracted to the same sex, but it's one that needs to be justified. Usually sexual attraction doesn't happen until puberty anyway, so of course no one is gay from birth.... no one is born straight either. There are many straight people who admit to being molested as well ... why use that as some sort of explanation for homosexuality? This doesn't change the fact that one cannot help who they're attracted to.
