It's amazing to me that religion can poison someone's mind enough to the point where they equate raping or murdering people to having a relationship w/ someone of the same gender. Listen, I don't completely reject the idea that certain events can result in someone being attracted to the same sex, but it's one that needs to be justified. Usually sexual attraction doesn't happen until puberty anyway, so of course no one is gay from birth.... no one is born straight either. There are many straight people who admit to being molested as well ... why use that as some sort of explanation for homosexuality? This doesn't change the fact that one cannot help who they're attracted to.

Your not born with your personality or straight/gay but you men and woman are born with their respective complimentary sexual organs. There is no debating that.

And I didn't equate the acts or murder and rape. I stated the fact that there are kids born everyday into situations where they grow up (through no fault of their own) with a disregard to human life. Some kids growing up in gangs can commit murder like its nothing. They were not born that way. The argument is if something as heinous and twisted as murderers and rapist can be the result of external development factors, what makes something Way LESS heinous and LESS harmful like homosexuality so special and incapable of being a result of external factors as well?

I didn't say you did. And I also pointed out that I didn't disagree with you, just that we don't know exactly if there are events that can impact sexual preferences. Molestation is a particularly weak one, as I said there are straight victims of abuse too.

They can and do, but they could and also cause someone gay to live a heterosexual life until the day they die. External causes affect ALL PEOPLE to do things a certain way. This still doesn't prove that all gay people choose to be gay at some point, nor does it account for people who live 'non-traumatic' lives to be gay.

For example, many gays admit to being molested as children.

And many non-gays have been molested as children, that doesn't prove anything.

While it is true that there is a certain segment of the population that is truly born with a hormonal imbalance or genetic defect that results in a homosexual phenotype, to presume that anyone that considers themselves gay is somehow a victim of an affliction that they have no control over is the height of naiveté.
