I wouldnt call it unnecessary because its probably your last real chance barring an onside kick conversion

you have to score there before the stop to have a chance of two possession comeback

They still had 2 timeouts.

Could have waited for the 2 minute warning (also a timeout), then ran 1 or 2 pass plays to the endzone....without running much clock....clock stops after incompletions, obviously.

At the very least, they get a FG with at least 1:40 and 2 timeouts under their belt.....with a chance to get the ball back.

Instead, they panic and rush a play that could have been better prepared had they waited till after the 2 minute warning.

These scenarios should be ingrained in a head coach's head.

The offensive-line was terrible, but some of those sacks were 100% on Stroud not getting rid of it. Some of the sacks he kept running backwards.

Some were on him for sure but no one was open...he's banged up so he couldn't really use his legs. Playcalling was ass. You can't have the QB sit back in the pocket and throw constantly against a good D. Run the ball...incorporate the RB in the passing game... they had no blitz beaters?
