You owe a guy 300 Ms over the next 5 years. He is gonna get that money as long as he doesn't die or retire. Who is more invested in him getting him through that deal healthy?

Excuses, excuses

Load manage like crazy until it's your contract year, then play all out when you're an expiring contract, get the contract, then back to load managing again... until the next contract. Wash, rinse, repeat

All the movement players have to do today and all the action they get put in. I don’t see load management going away or these injuries going away soon.

I didn’t realize it was that bad until I started betting and checking injury reports. Man it’s a complete toss up who plays every night. It’s way worse than reported

And the funniest part, it goes under the radar bc media just covers gossip.

Like bruh the 76ers are clearly tanking for that pick, but not only are they without Embiid, Maxey, PG….but also Kelly Oubre…and now they sat Quentin Grimes and Gershon Yabusele for rest :mjtf: Mfer you’ll be managing a LA Fitness in 2 years what the hell do you need rest for

Of course, they won't.

Which is why I don't know why this discussion needs to be brought up all the time. Bigs rarely existed outside the paint once upon a time, now defenses require all five players to be able to cover all areas of the halfcourt. It only stands to reason the more physical demand players have to deal with, that it's going to lead to injuries and teams needing to mitigate those injuries.

Top 4
Suck it up
College players when they have their tourneys sometimes have to play 4 straight days and they do

Shout out to the Mikal bridges types that you know will always show up and play

This generation contracts bigger but their lack of commitment to their conditioning and playing is at an all time low. The All Star game been an embarrassment. I feel Lebron should take some accountability.

He's never done this in his life. Instead of has legions ready to cape for anything he does.

Players get injured now because they have they cover so much more ground than the plumber era.

Players getting injured is the price you have to pay for a superior and more athletic brand of basketball. :manny:

Are there numbers for player miles per game? Because players apparently play less minutes now so miles per game doesn't say much if it's spread out over rosters.

Now remember, it’s all that on top of the offensive whistle, crazy gather steps, 3 pt. contests, etc.

No doubt some may like that game, but others won’t.

Me personally, I just think “major” entertainment isn’t on the same magnitude it once was because there are now platforms like TikTok, Twitch, etc. That’s why the NBA caters to them so heavy. People like iShowSpeed who had 37 million viewers recently pull in way more eyes than NBA games now. That’s what all these major brands are competing against. I honestly think it’s a big factor: attention goes to where their crowd goes. People used to congregate around sports and they don’t as much anymore.

Sports feats don’t draw as many mainstream headlines anymore either. I remember when I was playing an MMORPG back in the day a group of nerds that don’t watch sports heard about Kobe’s 81-point game. Now it’s what these streamers do that gets the attention and shock value.
