i thought it was great that don's full breakdown didn't happen through him explaining himself or making some crazy sob story, life revealing ("i am actually dikk whitman") speech or anything like that. he just felt it. it was internal. the audience knew everything that was weighing on don and could connect the dots with what everything that fridge story guy was saying...so nothing needed to be said by him.
show is hella intelligent... no need to insult the audience..

loved the ending... i'm just glad my n*gga donny d found happiness at the end

:ehh:

Good opposing options, but I think its because he inspired his idea for the ad:yeshrug:

i don't actually buy that angle at all but that would seriously be heart-breaking if that were the case. don draper's at his lowest point ever, fully taking in how much he's fukked up, his past, his present, how alone he is...and sobs like a baby cuz he's been inspired to have a great ad campaign? fuuuuuuck that.

that's what i'm saying. the writers of this show have always respected their viewers...or if not that, they're basically demanding that you pay attention and take clues from the subtleties. in a sense, i kind of thought there would be a big "reveal" by don, which would go against that nuanced story-telling they've done all along...but sometimes in finales of shows, especially one like this with so much that is unsaid...they might stray off-course from their style a little, so i expected something like that. but that was not the case here, which was amazing. i loved it.

the biggest issue i had with this episode was the stan-peggy thing. and not because they ended up together. in the back of my mind i always saw that coming, it was just weird ass timing...coming off that call from don? i mean, don/peggy is really one of the most intimate relationships of the entire series and dude's clearly on the end of his rope...and within a minute of hanging up with him she's fallen (or realizing that she is) in love with stan? i dunno, that didn't work for me.

ultimately, they obviously leave certain things up to interpretation, primarily how don finds happiness. i mean, it looks like he does...but you're not totally sure why. and that just leaves all kinds of ideas on the table. there's no such thing as closure when it comes to this dude. :yeshrug:

That finale was fukking beautiful :to:

Don gave us a legit, true smile in the end and came up with one of the most influential ad campaigns ever to close the GOAT show :wow:

I was fine with the Peggy/Stan scene. It's their relationship in a nutshell, Stan comforting her after that phone call with Don, asking her to move on and stop worrying about him. She finally does and begins to realize she loves Stan. shyt, Peggy even says "you make everything ok no matter what, you are always right" and he was right about Don :wow:

Pete got that W. Hated that fukker for 7 season and a half, now I'm happy as fukk about him getting his :mjcry:

I already said this, but I'm Gonna miss this show so fukking much :to:
