breh gravity was universally praised as well.

and you mentioned Godzilla.. most viewed it as a disappointment..i'm not sure where you got that from.

that shyt just came and went. i already had forgotten about it til you brought it up
I think Godzilla only counts as overhype if you go solely on pre-release. But yeah, that movie was meh besides the monster action we got to see.

It was a lot people on here who loved that film. I remember that thread clearly. Sure, Gravity was universally praised. Not denying that. I'm just saying the hype was on here too. There certain films every year that this board loves that I think is overhyped. Mad Max is not in that category though. But it is a little overhyped.

A while after this talk, during a post-film reception, I spoke with Miller about his affinity for that black and white version of Fury Road. He said that he has demanded a black and white version of Fury Road for the blu-ray, and that version of the film will feature an option to hear just the isolated score as the only soundtrack — the purest and most stripped-down version of Fury Road you can imagine. :ohhh:

warner bros better not pull that stunt they did with gravity..and release this version in september and then next year the special luxe diamond version with that on there

That sounds awesome. And I'm definitely picking up that version of Gravity too.

One of the markers of a truly great film, or even a classic, is that it rewards multiple viewings. I've seen FURY ROAD three times and each time was, no lie, better for me than the last. FIrst showing was 3D, and too overwhelming. Second and third were both 2D. (It's 3D enough as it is nuhmean!) The second time I was more able to let go and just enjoy the pure kineticism. But this latest third time was just transcendental. I noticed character moments, individual shots and details, that I never could before and just how well-made this movie is.

Few random things:

-the piano (!) in Immortan Joe's vault. Who played it in the "normal" times pre-abduction and chase? I took it as another example of how he hoarded not just resources, but knowledge and beauty for himself.

-the scars on Splendid's face. My guess is, and that's all it is, was this was her trying to disfigure herself to escape misery.

-Furiosa was so deeply trusted and respected by Joe's organization that her private War Boys crew didn't even question her "detour" until way late in the game. Quite a betrayal. I like the theories that she may have had to be Joe's :francis: at some point due to her fine appearance, even if she only had the one arm, but may have just been barren.

-Splendid's spasms in the belly may have meant that even if she'd never been moved or gone through the chase and the crash, the baby brother might still not have made it.

-even though I don't subscribe to the theory that Max is actually the Feral Kid from MM2, the appearance of the music box can't just be Miller winking at us or a coincidence.

True but there certain movies every year that I think get overhyped on here. This aint as bad though as others in the past. Its a good film just not at the level as yall saying

No, it's better than most of ya'll are saying. The only one who as thus far has accurately praised the movie is me.

The more options the better, even if I rarely ever check for them.

Yeah, it's crazy how many details there are in the movie that seem to have a (hi)story of its own.

Anyway, I remembered another fukking thing I forgot to mention in my long-ass write-up, and it's those lines after Furiosa tells the girls to do an inventory on the amount of bullets. "Angarhad used to call them Anti-seed. Plant one and watch something die." That is such a goddamn powerful metaphor it blows my mind every time I hear it. :mindblown:

This is by far the best action movie that I have seen, there was no forced love story, every character felt humane and old boy that had the lovely day line stole the show to me. I want to find out who it is. I saw it 2D but boy do I wanna watch it again 3D. I was thoroughly entertained from the first scene to the final scene. shyt I don't even think I wanna check out a comic book film for a while after watching this shyt. By far the best flick I seen all year. Give me more give me more give me more :wow::wow::wow:

No need to get into some labored spiel about how good the movie was, but that chase sequence when we first get introduced to the war rig is probably the greatest action scene that I've ever seen. It was non-stop exhilaration. I literally said "wow" after the dust settled and Max came out of sand.

The third act was a little unevenly paced, but still good nonetheless (it was odd that Miller opted to develop the plot so late in the movie).

There's a 4D showing around the corner from me, which I'm thinking about checking out. :patrice:
