The Road Warrior aka Mad Max 2 is so great. I had kind of underrated it over the years. Watched it twice over the last week since seeing Mad Max 4 as I've been on that tip and it's hard to get back to the theater. The opening to that film is so great. I wish I had studied it before writing my two novels, as it is a great lesson in storytelling.

Mad Max 3 is cool, but it loses a little something when the kids show up. I am still a fan of the first one--I love those old, cheap, batshyt insane movies where the creators put their balls on the line.

I was :mjlol: when I saw Netflix pulled the original MAD MAX from streaming. I wanted to see it again in light of the new one. It's very different from the other three but seems like the kind of pic that would also benefit from more than one watch. Crazy that the same dude who played Toecutter played Immortan Joe!

Movie was insane. Just wild nonstop action. The dude on the guitar had me dying the whole time :russ:
Me and a friend were cracking jokes about the guitar guy the entire time.
"I wonder if he is playing a set list?"
"I wonder if he gets to take 10 minute breaks at least?"

Movie was good, the action/stunts were A++. It's really a wonder in stunt choreography. But it is very light story wise. Cool movie, thumbs up but pure action movies just aren't my thing. I needed more dialogue.

Definitely agree about The Road Warrior. That movie is a pioneer for the post apocalyptic genre.

Regarding the kids in Beyond Thunderdome, this is from the IMDB trivia page:

The film was originally not a "Mad Max" film, but a post-apocalyptic "Lord of the Flies" film about a tribe of children who are found by an adult. It became the third Mad Max film when George Miller was suggested that Max is the man who finds the children.

Yeah, the opening scene of The Road Warrior is one of my all time favorite openings. It's visual storytelling perfected.

saw it for the 3rd time

liked when the film was a blueish grey and the only thing that had "color" was the green plant growing in the animal skull that the old woman had in her seed bag

who was the really old woman in joe's breeder vault, like a madam for the ladies, an educator.....vault had a piano, lots of books, chairs in row towards a map/board, a former breeder, all the above? She had a lot of tats didnt know what signifed, kids she had for joe? The reaaly pale, blue eyed blond had some of the same tats on her hands.

Kinda felt sorry for Nux cause if he had made it back, he wouldve got some prime red head breeder puss

the old woman was probably the caretaker for the ladies...

i think the breeding system is a recent initiative of joe's? because until now he only had 2 sons, neither of which were healthy

but if he'd been doing the breeding thing with healthy women for a long time, then he'd already have more kids/healthy kids?

i don't think he saw the need until he was getting old with no healthy heirs

nux was a cross between :russ: :dwillhuh: and :sadbron: tbh... i think his scene that hit me hardest was when he named his tumors... larry and barry :damn:
