PlayStation’s model is based on Nintendos

Selling hardware, selling games, thats the name of the game. What metric is microsft going to win in with subs flatlining? Whats left??????
Sony wants you in their eco system so you buy all your games on their platform and they rake in their 30% or whatever of the microtransactions/purchases on PlayStation Network.

Nintendo is mostly really just about selling hardware and software with the occasional DLC.

Nintendo makes a good amount of money off Nintendo Online also.

At the end of the day it’s still about selling games. Microsoft incentivize their audience to not spend money, thats why so many games, even the ones they have marketing deals with always sell significantly more on other platforms. Even early in the generation when they had a much smaller gap in install base with ps5, ps5 3rd party game sales were still lopsided, stuff like Scarlet Nexus.

You tell your consumer base that they should subscribe or wait until a game is on a subscription and they start to neglect buying games outright on the platform. You can even see the pattern with xbox stans here that won’t spend that much money on xbox even though its their preferred platform and spend more money on playstation or nintendo games

Y'all dudes slow, Microsoft spent close to 100 billion dollars if not more one gaming in the last 4-5 years.

Do you think that if they really wanted to spend Sony out of business they couldn't?

With 1 billion dollars they could have locked down 5 to 6 100-200 million dollar triple A games completely.

Now multiply that by 100 billion.

:mjlol: no red flags, FTC, cause for alarm, or legal issues, just games all of a sudden being exclusive to Xbox.

But that's terrible business ironically that's what y'all be asking for and love.

Spend Sony out of business to get to the top and be in the same predicament that Sony is in.

So brilliant :blessed:

They tried and failed, they couldn’t even get the acquisition to pass without keeping COD multiplatform. No amount of money Microsoft can realistically spend can reverse their fortune is console gaming

What about Sony putting their games on sub day one and becoming Netflix like you’ve been preaching on here for years. Don’t tell me you’ve change your tune already

You say this but bigger picture console business is a section of Microsoft's gaming business. Console gaming is pretty much Sony's entire gaming business because most of what they do flows through a console. Sony now is trying to diversify into PC (like Microsoft did many years ago and improve subscriptions like Microsoft focused on a while ago) I don't think Xbox leadership or even Nadella is hyper focused on how to sell more consoles than Sony when even if they did that there are bigger opportunities out there for them as a business.

Microsoft already conceded the console wars to Sony. It's over and it's been over for a while.

You can't outspend the market leader and overtake them normally. You think Apple, Google, and Amazon can't outspend Roku? Yet Roku is still the market leader. You think Google couldn't outspend Facebook? Yet Facebook has billions of users and Google+ no longer exist.

When people have a product and they're satisfied with it they aren't leaving. The Apple fan doesn't give a shyt what Android does until the day something Apple does fukks them over.

The bottom line is the changing of the guard requires an opportunity usually a blunder on the leader's part. It's either that or disruption. An entrenched market leader that's not making mistakes is virtually impossible to topple in direct competition.
