The Lupe slander needs to stop. I'm confused about this push back, the 2 songs that he released that were singles were both good songs, and that song Next to It is amazing IMO. Lupe is one of the last artists that can still make a hiphop single with a great message for radio play.

And F&L2 was a very very solid release. Laser was his only stumble as far as I'm concerned.

How many more records does he have before he's off of Atlantic?

Yal really not feeling this?

:dwillhuh:

shyt is :ld: coming from an artist his biggest fans labeled "the next Nas" and the GOAT.

First time hearing it, not bad :ehh: At this point Lupe's problem is that his personality and Lasers has alienated a lot of his fans. He basically did what Kanye did for the Yeezus run for 5 straight years.

No. It's a single that has substance. Drop some examples of mainstream artists making videos/singles that actually that have a meaning behind them. Within the past year or 2 Lupe has put out videos/singles that were powerful.

Ain't nothing :ld: about a rapper making shyt like this.

And before that, this...

ehh, I wouldn't even say that.

Yeah the hardcore Lupe Fans don't mess with Lasers, but he's put out great music since Lasers. I think people shyt on him now because of his ranting and smart dumb nikka comments in interviews etc. The music he's been putting out has been good to great.

And honestly, the only reason Next To It ain't blow probably has mainly to do with the label not pushing it.

What do you mean "no"? You asked if we're feeling it. I said I'm not. This ain't multiple choice. The song ain't all that, regardless of the meaning behind it. Neither was "bytch Bad".

That lasers album cost him a lot of his core fan base and then his moves after that and even prior to Lasers made it so that he's not a likeable dude. People buy albums based on identifying with you these days. He lost all of that. That's why I aid the Yeezus "run." I'm including Kanye's interviews and rants, etc. Lupe was that annoying for 5 straight years. If you're going to do shyt like that you have to drop music that is undeniable and he didn't. His singles were preachy and pedantic even when they had a good message. To put it in perspective, Lupe Fiasco was my favorite rapper from my junior year of high school up until my freshmen year of college. I have yet to fully hear F and L 2. There are too many people like me.

Ok, cool. You don't like it.

Your comment bringing up NAS and the GOAT made me reply the way I did. Yeah those examples weren't overly lyrical, but it's clear that Lupe knows that for a SINGLE it may be best to slow down the lyrics for the regular listener to "get it" so to speak.

If those aren't good singles/songs for RADIO play (and I'll keep mentioning this because that's what I prefaced my initial thoughts on his recent music on) please share some other examples for comparison purposes from other artists with the same amount of notoriety as Lupe.

Thanks in advance

I don't listen to the radio, so I have no idea.

Also I know you post a lot in The Arcadium, maybe not so much here....but yeah, Lupe fans have beat people over the head with how he's the GOAT and the "new Nas", literally for years. So this ain't a comparison I created it.

If I brought you a song by a random rapper, and said "listen"....you'd judge the song solely by it's own merits. If I brought the song, and prefaced it by saying "this new guy is the undisputed GOAT, you like Nas WELL HE'S BETTER THAN THAT!" over and over, for hours before I played the song....that is going to factor into how you receive the music.

:russ::what: That's not an equal comparison lyrically, Kendrick has no classic verses, or albums. He's a dope emcee though.

I wasn't criticizing Lupe's ability to rap but his quality of music has been questionable since after he dropped The Cool. As a really big Lupe fan back in the day, Lamborghini angels, words i never said, Old School, and Bad bytch are the only songs I fux with

The album is gonna come out, however don't expect it to be great. Also Lupe said many times he was gonna quit....but yet he continues to make music.
