You don't believe in brainwashing/propaganda? Lol. Nazi Germany? Lol... Blaxpliotation? It's exactly the same in music, it doesn't mean everything anyone likes that is popular is brainwashing, but some things have an element of that certainly. Like I said I have no issues with anyone liking the Kendrick album, I think it's decent too, and prefer it to Lupe's last album. Just was speaking about that point. Anyway I don't wanna derail the thread so cool lol..

yes nikka if we are talking about war propaganda...

but this is matter of people simply listening to music and liking what they hear and vice versa. No I don't believe in the silly notion that labels are brainwashing people into liking and buying their music they put out. Miss me with that shyt, I'm a grown ass man, I like what I like, I dislike what I dislike. Theres no fukking elements, it's just petty chatty patty bullshytl

Ok, you're wrong but it's ok, can just agree to disagree. With some people certainly they aren't effected and they like what they like, but you have to be an extremely strong character for that to be the case. A lot of people are brainwashed 100 percent, music isn't different from all the other forms of media, brainwashing or propaganda. I'm not speaking about you personally as I don't know you, as you say you could just like what you like, that's cool, but it's not accurate to deny that that goes on. But like I said it's not that deep, can just agree to disagree and keep it moving.

Edit:

Let me quickly add on this...

From 7.39...

What Peter Bailey was taught by Malcolm X, both were also grown men and knew deeply what they were speaking about...

I think some of you don't understand his good lupes new album is.

He will paint abstract pictures lyrically using wordplay like metaphor, figures of speech, cultural references, allegory, etc regarding the song subject (that's often relevant to today's current issues) And he'll change the picture/technique randomly throughout the track by verse or mid verse and every concept ties together perfect. I can't explain but it's amaxzing cause he rarely says anything in simple straight forward ways on any song other than on deliver, and chopper and that short verse is still one of the best on the album and the best on a 8 minute song :wow:

Songs like little death, body of work, deliver and Madonna are near perfect. His delivery and flow is :whew: on nearly every song

And every hook is:ohlawd:

Lupes lyricism is way more impressive then Kendrick obviously.

Kendricks message is stronger and more concise while lupes is more abstract and all over the place.

Both are very creative albums but I think lupe creates a project more unique that can be appreciated more.

Musically I'll take Kendrick cause the whole project is just executed perfect with the Jazz funk, soul, rap improvisational experimental vibe. And I like that type of music.

That said, the production on Tetsuo and youth is amazing. It's just not what most rap fans are accustomed to. You gotta have an open mind and patience with lupes music cause it's art.

So I can understand most picking Kendrick :manny:

Ain't reading through this fugazi thread. There's gonna be a lot of downplaying and a lot of foolishness, but ill give my thoughts and bounce.

Both albums are incredible, T&Y is better. VASTLY superior rapping, deeper concepts, better hooks and while tpab's production is more eclectic, T&Y's is more enjoyable. Maybe cut 2 minutes off Chopper and T&Y is essentially a flawless record. TPAB clearly is not.

TPAB tells a cohesive narrative from start to finish and has more genre blending eclecticism. It's also more simple and accessible lyrically. That's about all it has "over" T&Y. TPAB has more blemishes(King Kunta isn't very good, a few spotty hooks, some cringe worthy victim blaming) but they're ultimately negligible. Album is amazing and an A+ effort. Would've been untouchable on most years, but when another album this year has Mural, Prisoner 1 & 2, Little Death, TRON, Madonna, Dots & Lines, Body of Work and Adoration of Magi.....uh....yeah. Stop it.

Coli ain't gonna wanna hear that cuz Lu is the weirdo and Kendrick is the biggest rapper alive but it is what it is. GKMC was way better than Lasers and F&L 2, but this time around Lu raised the bar too high. Kendrick jumped as high as he could and gave that bar a light tap though, so salute him for that, but nah. Lupe is on a level all by himself, and if T&Y didn't prove that to people, nothing will. Maybe if he starts doing funny voice alterations, dumbs down his lyrics enough for y'all to understand, introduces elements of metal and folk to "transcend the genre" and has a conversation with a dead Notorious BIG at the end of his next album y'all will start liking dude. :pachaha:

Like I said before though, they're the two best albums this year and that won't change. They're also two of the best hip hop albums ever and arguably the best efforts since The Cool and GKMC. Just appreciate both masterpieces because we don't get shyt like this often. fukk which is better. They're both elite.

To wrap it up, Lu's thoughts on TPAB and what he's working on next.

"@ido_notknow_you just finished listening to it...I think it's good...that "we gone be aight" joint is my favorite...the production is good...a little cluttered but good...I like jazz more than any other music so I dig it...think section 80 is better..."

"And I'm writing Skulls and Cool 2 at the same...Cool 2 feels really special...scary good...Skulls is better than T&Y and I think Cool 2 will be better than both...we'll see..."

Somebody please inbox me a link to a big size pic of Stephen a Smith holding that coffee cup and looking smug. I told nikkas TPAB gonna make Lu announce another album and nikkas said I was bugging. He went and announced two :russ:

PS: don't bother quoting me. I don't really care about what nikkas is saying forreal forreal. How I feel is how I feel :youngsabo:

The only weakness Lupe really has with his music is that it's not personable. He doesn't really share personal shyt in his music. He gives the listener a different perspective on a lot of his content.

You're wrong with your criticism. Lupe's delivery, flow and the sound of his songs/melody has never been a weak point for him.

I think that's lupes biggest fault too that he isn't personable.

These posts caught my attention.

You know the FUNNIEST shyt about that? Lasers was by FAR his most personable album. In fact that entire album is nothing but personable shyt from start to finish. It just so happens that the first and only time we got a personal album from him is by far and away his worst album.

The one time he gave us some of him was over those crusty ass euro beats and simplified lyrics. Due to the backlash it got we're probably never getting that shyt again, but we at least have that one the catalogue. The other four is 90% conceptual with 10% personable mixed in (just might be okay, chopper, fighters, etc).

T&Y easily.

As art pieces both are dope, but as a rap album T&Y is superior. I don't really enjoy Kendricks album even though I recognize and appreciate the artistry.

t and y was lupes best effort since the cool. but he gets no points for forcing lyrics and trying to intentionally go over nikkas heads to appease his stans and feed his ego they helped build

years ago he had a balance and it came out natural. now he is over doing it to try and live up to the stans hype

TPAB >

people can handle it.

you can acknowledge his lyricism and still realize that doesnt equal better music. the album was good. it wasnt his best and it isnt the pinnacle of art his stans make it out to be

lupe's excuse to make "this lyrical album for the fans" just turned into another tool his stans could use to overthink every line and boost his ego even more
But when he wasn't super lyrical on his last two albums the Lupe haters crucified him for it.

T & Y was made in sense of proving the haters wrong saying he fell off lyrically. And to prove em wrong he dropped his most lyrical album yet,

If people could handle it then ppl wouldn't be complaining about it being too complex.

The bias between Lupe and Kendrick is ridiculous.

Y'all don't even realize how "preachy" Kendrick gets on TPAB.., Yet When Lupe did it on "f & l 2" (which was lyrically better than TPAB besides the corny love songs) Y'all HATED him for it..

:lupe:

Lupe = Preachy and Pretentious
Kendrick = Deep and Visionary... Voice of the People

And I like TPAB a lot but you hit it on the HEAD with that comment about the bias man... and I honestly love that Mortal Man song he has on there... cause that's probably exactly how Lupe feels years into the game. We'll see if the same shyt happens to Kendrick down the road.
