La petite mort, French for "the little death", is an idiom for orgasm. This term has generally been interpreted to describe the post-orgasmic state of unconsciousness that some people have after having some sexual experiences.

More widely, it can refer to the spiritual release that comes with orgasm or to a short period of melancholy or transcendence as a result of the expenditure of the "life force," the feeling which is caused by the release ofoxytocin in the brain after the occurrence of orgasm. Literary critic Roland Barthes spoke of la petite mort as the chief objective of reading literature, the feeling one should get when experiencing any great literature.

The term "la petite mort" or "the small death" does not always apply to sexual experiences. It can also be used when some undesired thing has happened to a person and has affected them so much that "a part of them dies inside". A literary example of this is found in Thomas Hardy's Tess of the D'Urbervilles when he uses the phrase to describe how Tess feels after she comes across a particularly gruesome omen and meeting with her own rapist:

"She felt the petite mort at this unexpectedly gruesome information, and left the solitary man behind her.".

Near the end of my 17th listen and now I feel some type of way about ranking Madonna last :patrice:

That can't be right. I guess I'll put No Scratches last since something gotta be last.

How do you guys feel this can be topped? I think it's best we lower our expectations for Skulls and Black Vietnam as low as possible. I'm sure they will be great but he hit a groove on this that I don't think you can replicate again.

Chopper makes me want to go out and buy my first gun :lupe:

a chopper? :mjpls:

Everyone but Lupe's verse. I think Lupe's superior lyrics on there along with the smooth flow just barely managed him to get away unscathed. He did body everyone else though and definitely has the most gut-punching lines in the song, several times over. That fierce delivery of conviction with it too is just soo pungent.:banderas:
Actually, I had to consider what the point of the song was... portrayal of the mentality of the hood and not necessarily rap skills (though I like everyone but Fam Lay on this shyt)

1. Buk
2. Glasses
3. Billy Blue
4. Lu
5. Tre
6. Trouble
7. Fam Lay

2. Famlay's verse is the only aspect of this album I don't anticipate with every listen. It's the least interesting, least energetic, and probably least impressive verse on Chopper. Remove Famlay's verse and this album is more or less flawless to my ears.

Fam Lay's verse coulda been bushed... we coulda got a verse from Trick Daddy or Juvi :banderas:

There's like 20 different hood rappers I would've rather heard on that shyt than famlay.

Imagine Pac on that beat :banderas:

No lie I would've liked to hear Lupe put atleast 3 chicago dirll rappers on chopper. It would've easily attracted the younger audience who is infatuated with the "Chriaq" drill movement
