Adoration of the Magi

Why you ready to die? You just a baby
Why them tears up under your eyes? You just a baby
Keep your head up in the sky, you just a baby
Quit chasing money, never mind, you just a baby
Why you wanna be born again? You just a baby
Why you playing in the streets? You just a baby

:ehh:

okay - but then we go deeper :leostare::lupe:

I listened to some of this album and it's pretty dope. From what I've heard of it, it's more conceptually consistent than The Cool. Not saying it's better overall, but I feel there's more of storyline sustained throughout the music on this one than The Cool.

I agree with this.

I'll still rate the cool just SLIGHTLY higher than T&Y. The Cool is what made me a real Lupe fan.

The writer does make some interesting points here and there but I think hes reaching too hard comparing infinite jest and T&Y. And he said how nobody can try and understand the meaning of infinite jest when D.F.W. said himself that if you dont get the book then the book has failed you.

It was well written but the Infinite Jest connection is a huge stretch. It feels like he name checked the hardest book he was familiar with for no real reason. You could pick a lot better examples from literature if you wanted... Ulysses or Finnegans Wake for instance are much closer to T&Y than IJ. And if he just wanted to talk about the In Your Head stuff, bringing up IJ adds nothing. But then again I hate the book.

He did make an interesting point about MBDTF and Dare Iz A Darkside.

Yea i agree. If anything he could have brought up how infinite jest and tetsuo and youth both focus on criminal activity/the streets, art and pop culture, and revolution instead of the 'in your own head' thing which lupe doesnt really show to have in his lyrics imo. What about infinite jest did you hate though?

Excellent piece...liked this bit the most

If Good Kid M.A.A.D. City’s brilliance was in Kendrick Lamar making friends with every faction at every corner of the school cafeteria without compromising himself, then Tetsuo and Youth does almost the opposite: its Lupe eating in that same cafeteria, all alone, contently wearing a Bruce Leroy glow, with the self esteem of a star quarterback surrounded by an entourage.

Hate may be strong. I found it very tedious without much aesthetic payoff, and I like long, difficult books. I don't think it's an objectively bad book, but I feel it's name dropped a lot to signify that the person speaking is smart, like in this article. It's the new Gravity's Rainbow.

fair enough...Infinitie jest is one of my favorite books but I should add that I related to a lot of the subject matter on a personal level. I think I can safely say I hate gravitys rainbow.

Yo I've been bumping this album damn near everyday. I can't play nothing else. I have over 10,000 songs. So many albums/playlists. I've never played a album so much in my life.

I'm playing it now. I haven't even got to joey bada$$ yet. The only other album in my rotation is Logic's Under Pressure. Anybody that got hate for Lupe or just disagree with his antics or watever needs to put that bias aside and play some unskippable greatness.

35,740 first week. My nikka flopped :to:

Lupe pushed as much as he said he would. Album is still :blessed:
:snoop:

That's weak as fukk. He has millions of followers on twitter, and a few 100K follwing him on IG and this album can only do 35K first week? That's beyond fukked up man.
