Would be dope if he really does drop info related to each song leading up to the physical release date.

I think this one will pull back in some fans he lost at Tetsuo & Youth, which as cohesive as it turned out to be, most of that wasn’t actually intended for the album and just chose the 12 best songs he had completed on the side. If you’ve paid attention to his twitter freestyles over the past year or so, the quadruple entendre raps seem like the kind of stuff he likes to do in his spare time and what I imagine Skulls will sound more like, since he’s said that one is for himself. This, however, is for the fans and generally more accessible than ANKH:HER. There’s still a few songs that need some unpacking, but for the most part, Wave returns to his knack for storytelling and flow versatility. And as much as he prioritizes lyricism, this is his most melodic project yet.

But Lupe core fans love him for his entendres and lyrcisim. It wouldnt make sense for him to do some melodic rap music when Lupe said himself he can finally make music he wants and likes to do. Tetsuo was one big story and you just said yourself lupe loves entendres.

Fair, but his initial style was rooted in more straightforward storytelling, so it's not like he's doing something he doesn't want to do. I can tell finding those manillas meant a lot to him, so it's understandable why he would want his message to be as clear as Jonylah Forever, for instance. Like I doubt anyone is gonna accuse this of being impenetrable puzzle rap the way Adoration of the Magi might be. And by melodic, while there are trap flows on this, I really mean how he's continued to start his latest freestyles with "What they say..." and the "ghettoooo" in the King Nas snippet has a similar vibe. He's just more involved in the hooks now and you could see it on T&Y too, but it's more apparent in the abundance of a double-disc.

Probably more accessible as in pulling back from the abstract stuff and coming in with a more centralized concept like he has with Wave. Though I anticipate Wave will have its fair share of abstract songs.

Just from the few songs/snippets I’ve heard or seen lyrics for he’s telling straight up stories on a lot of this, with a mythological/supernatural twist to the Diaspora

Jonylah Forever
Alan Forever
King Nas
Stack That Cheese

Seem to be deep records in their own right but still simple enough for the casual fan to follow. T&Y had those kinda records too but when it was initially released there was no specified theme. There was conceptual storytelling on T&Y under the surface but not outwardly. It’s gonna be both for Drogas Wave

Leaked Drogas Wave lyrics on Genius :gladbron:
Intro]
We are a people who have been historically on the verge on extinction
Freeway
We have been at many times, under much stress
Since being brought into this country
On many, many slave ships

[Verse]
Preparations, reparations from segregation
Genius at Genesis, master system SEGAs
Hijabi mommy, dissect invaders on SamaVeda
Anointed players who coin phrases, that's metal paper
Level layers, several shades of grey, submission for it
MILF lover under silk covers who kiss her horses
Pilates central to preservin’ the body temple
Jazz classics combatin' the fattest ass, stasis
Quotient; my potions soakin' like boats in oceans
Motion sickness, I overdid all my finesse pack
Multidecker, new refreshment, lesson from jet snacks
My momma wisdom, my competition is setbacks
Jetlaggin’, very swaggered in my Jordans dirty
AMG performance, my foreign don't show no mercy
Mere products, objects, meaningless to the over-standards
Contemplatin' with industralists and social planners
Manillas!

[Hook]
Don't ruin us [x15]
God said

And they say...

Opium to the ceiling
All for the love of plugs, squealing 'ugh', healing
No more Timberland turf
You're too soft for this, award-winning awkwardness
You walking off into the office with
In the rims with friends and like state trials and Paypals
In nondescript homes in Arizona
In sub-divided neighbourhoods, with floors made of solid wood
In roofs of clay tiles sits a couple million dollars
Said I tried but the old me blew it
Exactly how you knew I'd do it
All my brothers, I would love to paint 'em Jewish
Reinfiltrate the movement and assassinate the music
Exaggerate the ass and face then masturbate to it
The constituency brilliant but the candidates are stupid
I'm too rude to ask for nudes
But way too ruthless not to pursue it...

[Hook]
Feel me when I say
Feel me when I say
Whatever don't kill me
Gets me through the day
Compose yourself, like a self-aware opera, conjurer
In the zone like Sonic, to produce me

A sign of the end times
In time to make profit off the t-shirts
And monetize all our research
And leave Earth feet first
Breech, behold! Whites get whiter in the cold
And colours don't fade in the bleach, hah
Applause, then fall through a man-made self
Talking to a doll at the pancake house
Then bring the light saber-ers
So bring the lampshades out
Mood
To say something lewd on the news
And move like views on a cruise
And fuse like the Q’s and the U's

[Chorus]
Which side are you on?
We're getting warmer
Cause I can’t hold on
Are you close to me?
Sunset so long
Can you call me?
Cause I lost my phone
Should I wait for you?
Or should I go home?
I can't function
These drugs are too strong
I'm seeing stars now
But I'm still unknown
Out here alone
Sunset so long
[Chorus: Troi Irons and Lupe Fiasco]
You and me, I'm curious to see
Could we be everything I need?
You don't have to go, go, go
We can be alone, alone (yeah, uh), together at last (yeah)

[Verse]
She just walks, and talks to the noise in her heads
Safe in the middle but destroys at the edge
Burns up the nest and poisons the eggs
When the sound hits the ground, the tone seems to beg
For the dark, wanna dart but it's too hard to march
When you heart's nailed down to the "start, on your mark"
Then a spark but she parked, too caught up in the blitz
To risk ripping them apart
So she wanna stay
On a high tonight to survive
The eyes pry wide down the manor
Opening the face to be go washed and awash in the glow
Of the faraway souls of downtown Atlanta
My report, a million similar souls
Signaling hoping to be a synonym for now
Put in a pill again (pilagen) when it drowns
When the night comes around
And the sky opens up
And the light comes
Down

Lupe had them take down the lyrics but here's part of mural jr that I copied before they took down
Holy assumption of man into the heaven's sphere
Mini mansions for champions within its seven tiers
Evangelines re-imagine every 11 years
Pause for applause, evolves at what was never here
Born to death, born to die
Form the flesh, form the eyes
A veritable storm of winged forms swarms the skies
Marital norms unperformed but the porn/pawn survives
In the dorms of the scorn, they keep warm supplies
Gone to lose the use of tooth, horn and thigh
Farthest standing, I was landing
Two one hand, one man bands jamming in tandem
He who power naps, then plans gathering ransoms
And maps man's laps in a hand lathered in absinthe
Gotta talent traffic and ramblings
And handing out amazing handmade maps of the labyrinth
Out the back of the wagon
Out the back of the madam
Out the back of the Magnum
Then out the trap of enchantment.
