Yeah guys, I need a little more than that. You're telling me what is really apparent from listening to the intro and outro of the song. Doesn't help me with lines like "
Level layers, several shades of grey, submission for it
MILF lover under silk covers who kiss her horses
Pilates central to preservin' the body temple
Jazz classics combatin' the fattest ass, status"

This nikka Lupe spitting way over my head
Half of that isn’t too hard to understand. Well, at least how I interpret it

“Pilates central to preserving the body temple”

That’s simple to follow

“Jazz classics combatin’ the fattest ass status”

Jazz music vs the vapid ass shaking club bangers

The first 2 bars I can see tho, they require more listens.

I did, if only briefly, and I did my best to approach it with an open mind since I'm the furthest thing from a fan, but unfortunately, I cannot stomach smart dumb shyt for too long. I don't question or particularly care for his intentions, but that explanation he put out on IG is basically why I can't fukk with his music (or in my opinion, lack thereof music), because he's more concerned with pointing out the existence of his matryoshka doll penmanship (which is only reflected by it having little-to-no organic value), rather than letting his music do the talking.

Like a wise man once said - if you've got the sauce, you don't need to tell anyone you've got it, because if you do, it likely means you ain't got it.

It's not about it being true or not, it's the fact he said it in the first place. It's the same reason why a joke loses its humor if you explain it.

:what: THAT MESSAGE IS CLEARLY FOR PPL WHO HAVENT HEARD THE ALBUM
AND THOUGHT HE WAS SHARKING MAX B
WITH THE TITLE.

DUDE YOUVE COMPLETELY FALLEN OFF
SINCE YOU CAME BACK.

Someone took a stab at the first verse yesterday and I probably agree with most of it. Level layers is connected to the previous lines about the Vedas (on Sepulveda Blvd.) being large bodies of work to digest and metal paper having another meaning beyond something long-lasting, specifically, Manillas are currency made out of bronze or copper. As for the first line you quoted, I think of 50 Shades of Grey and submission as the masochistic part of BDSM in contrast to the Vedas. These 4 bars are all comparing the sacred to the unholy, which is also in the two ways you can read the album title (drugs and God's love) and his life philosophy in general: Food & Liquor. Jump to songs like Sun God Sam where he actually spends a whole verse on fukking and conflating ecstasy with pornography on XO. By the time you get to King Nas, you get a clear summation of all this from someone grown, wiser: "know the difference between being in love and being horny"

The comment about the Silk Road fukking over the Motherland with the slave trade sounds reasonable too, especially right after the Manilla bar.

Thats exactly what that faggit Zimmerman was referencing when he was threatening Jay and Beyonce
that was the first thing I thought when I read that "feed Jay and Bey to Alligators" line when it was published.

I thought to myself that this was a derogatory statement as it was referring to Black babies being eaten.

and I am 99% sure thats what he meant

So you're telling me you can break down all of Lupe's smart dumb shyt, but you can't seem to identify his MO in plain view, in all its ugliness?

There was absolutely no reason why he needed to specifically state "While my concept for Wave as I use it wasn't inspired by or in my mind anyway from your approach or movement and is all part of an extended metaphor surrounding slavery...", other than for intellectual masturbation, and reminding us just how corny he is. All he needed to say was - my concept of "Wave" is different (referring to Max B's shyt like this is corny in itself), I meant no disrespect, just showing proper respects to the originator. But instead, he needed to put his dusty ass, pompous kufi on, and expound on his "concept" as if it has some greater intrinsic meaning than Max B's -- not just about slavery, and not just a metaphor, but an extended metaphor surrounding slavery -- man, get the fukk outta here with this bullshyt.

- It's crazy to say that a 24 track double disc album is pretty much flawless. Which pretty much compels you to listen to it all the way through every time despite it being LONG AF :russ:

- it's crazy to say an all time great talent's best album is probably his seventh one.

- it's crazy that a guy whose abilities were already tier zero just off mixtapes alone has managed to somehow improve.

- it's crazy to think that Food & Liquor and The Cool can be arguably not even he b rapper's top 2 best projects. These are albums that has Hurt Me Soul, The Cool, American Terorrist, Put You On Game, Streets On Fire, Dumb It Down, Pressure, The Instrumental, The Coolest, and The Die on it. Think about that for a second.

- It's crazy to think he made a double disc masterpiece with not one...NOT ONE rap feature.

- it's crazy to think this very non-latino ass nikka had the audacity to rap in Spanish for the fukking intro track and made that shyt sound FIRE.

- it's crazy to think to Atlantic had this guy on their label for 11 years and tried to change him instead of just letting him he himself.

- it's crazy to think how fortunate the most prominent names in hip hop are that this dude being the best ever is a best kept secret.

- It's crazy to think this would be called the best rap album ever made, which is probably true, if Kendrick or Drake made it. But instead, the artist and project's GOATness will continue to be a best kept secret while people with 10% of his talent level are being praised.

PS: lol @ thinking only one person has right to the word "Wave" :pachaha:
