Bruh! I'm just seeing this comment. I'm glad someone else understands what I'm talking about. Was he always praising Aesop Rock from the very beginning? Am I buggin when I say that I had no idea he was jocking Aesop until like 2 years ago?

That's the thing about hip hop: people pretend all the time to be influenced by someone respected (for props) but at the end of the day, the way your music sounds tells me exactly who you're influenced by and what audience you're trying to appeal to.

I gotta be honest bruh - I don't care enough about either rapper (especially Aesop) to dig like that. I think it's fairly obvious if you check out a little bit of Aesop's work. Check out dude's flow (I should say 'non flow' really). The only track title I remember from dude is "Daylight" or some shyt. That cac is terrible. I don't want that shyt in my Youtube history.

because he doesn't... they rap literally nothing alike.. Lupe styles has varied so much it's ridiculous.

You not trying to see it doesn't mean it's not there. I'm telling you Lupe is abstract with the rhymes and offbeat with the flow. Aesop Rock is abstract with the rhymes and offbeat with the flow. You can tell this in two seconds when you listen Aesop Rock. Lupe himself rides his tip. But somehow they rhyme nothing alike :mjlol:

DOOM is the only one listed that I can maybe agree on.

I assume this is a mindset to keep hungry

I am. which is why I asked for an example. it's a lot of rappers who rap abstract the majority of wu tang, mf doom, Daylyt, Andre 3k, a 1000 more. everyone's ear is different because I hear the Nas influence Aesop not so much. that Dude is the definition of lyrical miracle. Lu is one of the few rappers that can be simple but at the same time complex with his metaphors an entendres.

One thing that can be said about Nas vs a rapper like Lupe (or the rappers he listed for that matter) is that Nas does an excellent job of grounding his verses no matter how complex or simple the ideas are. He'll have a wrap-around concept for the structure or content of a song but you won't notice he's doing it because his goal isn't to draw attention to the writing itself. "One Mic" is a great example of this, very few rappers can pull a track like that off without calling attention to the writing devices being used which would've detracted from the o/a impact of the song. A lot of rappers want to draw attention to the devices they use but with Nas it's always the message first. He's more a "sum of all parts" kind of writer whereas a lot of lyricists focus on having stand-out bars they want you to notice but they often don't bring the same level of focus or attention to detail to the song as a whole.

On that same note, Lupe is extraordinarily talented with wordplay and conceptual writing. However, 80% of the time he writes with the intention to call attention to the wordplay and conceptual writing itself instead of writing with the intention to really say something. That's not to say that he doesn't have a point to a lot of his music but a lot of the time, his verses fall short of being "powerful" as a whole and come off more like displays of technicality.

Nas needs to stop playing around and give the boy a feature. Imagine an i gave u power or a rewind sequel(or is it prequel :troll:) with them on the same track :ohlawd:
