Beli himself acknowledged today that we look faster than any team we've played later against. How do you coach against speed? We're so much faster than NE on both sides of the ball...how are they gonna account for that? The only response i get is because it's the Pats and Beli is just gonna magically put a game plan together. It's not like NE has an elite front 7 either. Tell these Pats fans these ain't the Jets theyre facing in 2 weeks
You make speed think. They're fast, but young and once you make them start 2nd guessing it gets a lot easier to attack them. Those 4.4's and 4.5's start playing like 4.7's and 4.8's. Lots of misdirection and changes of tendencies in the beginning on offense. Not just PA pass. They can recover from a play fake and NE doesn't have the speed on offense to make them pay without Gronk. Start with out of character formations. Lining up Edelman in the back field. Two back sets with Blount and Lewis. Splitting Martellus out one side with a quad set on the other side. From there it's about fake screens or double screens for the first few drives and the fear of being caught slipping will takeover. (Hogan didn't do anything special. The Steelers secondary just let him run wide ass open and weren't reading their keys)
On defense it's basically the same thing except they're going to be playing the tricks on Matty. The point for them won't be to negate the speed of the WR/mismatches that ATL has with their RBs with NE's LB's. The point is to make Matt move his eyes from downfield to wherever he thinks the rush is coming from. All of those weapons are nice, but they're all reliant on Matt to be the point man of it all. While he's been good this year we don't know how he'll react in a game this big if they're not scoring like he's used to the past 9 weeks.
The margin for error for NE is a lot slimmer, but they're smart enough to know how to find cracks and apply pressure. It'll need to be all about jedi mind tricks to cause hesitation because if the Falcons get up two scores and gain that confidence it's gonna be bad if NE gets one dimensional and Brady needs to throw the ball down the field.
