I mean everything is an attack on your psyche at the end of the day. It's how you learn to interpret it and respond to it that matters.

Watching Casablanca as a kid didn't turn me into Rick or Sam for that matter.

you people seriously think kids wouldn't be confused by seeing a man in drag?
What do you think is going to happen to a child? The next day he goes to school and decides to become a cum dumpster?

Do you think media in general is better for say your daughter? Where every women is a sex object that exists specifically to gratify you.

It's not something I would want my children to be watching. When are parents going to take responsibility for their actions or inaction?

You posted stats comparing gay couples to straight couples. That has nothing to do with the comparison to blacks and the black struggle which is the issue at hand and the one you guys keep pushing. The median income for blacks households is $33,000. That's half of the median income for gay households even based on the cherry picked stats you posted so you proved my point. Thanks.

What point did I prove? That because gays (who are not a race) aren't discriminated against as much as the Black race (even though Black gays obviously have it much harder than straight Black people,) they don't get affected by the same kinds of issues? Nobody said gays have it worse than or as bad as Black people. The original argument was that Black people and gay people share common concerns, enough to form political alliances and work towards ending common problems.

You came in and said gay people have it better than straight people. I showed you stats that proved that wasn't true, meaning gay people are indeed disadvantaged.

Assuming these numbers are true, just how does this address the TheReal's point? So because gay's have a higher average income then blacks, they dont deserve access to rights and services that we currently enjoy? If a black person reaches a certain economic threshold, should civil rights no longer apply to him or her?

This whole conversation is damaged because your bigotry informs to you that equal rights somehow means "special rights", because you have a biased opinion of the worth of gay men.

Now if gay folks were asking for things like their own version of Affirmative action, or community reinvestment acts, then you would have an argument. You dont have an argument when you categorize gay people wanting to frequent businesses of public accommodation, wanting access to marriage and basic rights we enjoy as an "agenda". Its fukkin bogus.

I never said any of that. But Black folks got way more pressing issues than fighting for gay rights. I don't know why that gets folks so upset to state facts. Blacks face far greater discrimination now than gays. A white gay is still white. A black gay is still black. Why are you trying to treat them as a separate group? You ever think about who that benefits? It benefits the white power structure by marginalizing the struggles of blacks to say being a gay white person in america is the same struggle. racial discrimination and the fight for racial equality is a far greater issue than that of sexuality.

Thanks for trying to bring stats into the discussion, but there's a flaw in your numbers. They come from a survey of 1,000 people by Prudential, a company not exactly known to be able to find respondents outside its client pool (ie, they already have to be relatively wealthy.) There is a much more comprehensive data set out there that relies on the full US census, rather than a small pool of 1,000 Prudential customers.

From the Washington Post:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...than-non-gays/2011/03/04/gIQA26CexQ_blog.html

"Gary Gates, a scholar with the Williams Institute who has analyzed 2010 Census Bureau data for the forthcoming American Community Survey (ACS), notes that while the gap has narrowed, it still remains.
Different-sex married couples with kids, average household income: $96,265
Same-sex couples with kids, average household income: $88,828

Different-sex married couples with kids, median household income: $77,000
Same-sex couples with kids, median household income: $67,000

The gap in average income was $7,437. The gap in the median income was $10,000.

While we’re at it, let’s look at some poverty numbers. LGBT families with children earn less than married heterosexual families with children. And there are more of them living in poverty and receiving public assistance.

Percent%20of%20Children%20Living%20Poverty.jpg

Now take a look at a chart Gates gave me from the ACS analysis of 2010 Census Bureau data.

LGBTPublicAssitance.jpg

As you can see, 3.4 percent of gay men and lesbians are on public assistance compared with .9 percent of straights. The percentages are higher for LGBT families with children with 3.4 percent of lesbian couples and 2.7 percent of gay male couples on the dole. That’s 6.1 percent compared to 1.3 percent for married heterosexual couples raising children."
