LF should have done the same

do you know for sure he didn't? just because nothing's listed, doesn't mean he didn't get permission. what's listed is often what is required by the label or artist. they stepped it up with Otis by making them list him as a feature. but just because nothing's listed, doesn't mean no permission was obtained. the artist may have been satisfied with some cash, or even just a handshake. that's their prerogative. the Finesse song did have a video and all that

AND if Finesse didn't get permission, and now the original artist/label wants to be salty because the Mac Miller song is blowing up, they gonna come after Finesse

actually those beats were made by chris stein FOR those scenes because they had to use original music. Those were made for Wild Style EXACTLY for that reason. That is original music because they couldn't pay for royalties.

It's an example man. You know damn well most of the music people used were not made for them. Let's stop bullshytting and lying to ourselves. This is how hip hop came about and continued to this day. Now when it hits them rappers want to complain but I remember when all the old artist that were getting sampled used to diss rappers for not making their own music and getting paid much more than they did and the rappers would say we are paying homage. Sounds familiar. I knew something was going to go wrong when RZA stated he was going to make people pay if they use his voice for scratching and I thought that was wrong because that was an important part of hip hop music and now look what happened, you hardly have any music with a DJ scratching voices because no one wants to pay money just for a 2-3 second sample..

This lawsuit may be the beginning of the end just like when Biz Markie got sued and lost the case then they took his album off the shelf("I need a haircut") and that set a precedent to where people had to get clearances then lawyers got greedy and starting asking for too much money so record labels didn't want to pay money and waiting to get sample clearances and then we have music that has evolved into todays type which is really producers who don't know how to make that same feel the old artist did and it is lacking something to me now. Even this is crazy because with today's technology you can still warp samples to give you that sound but not have anyone know the sample it came from but I guess you really have to be creative and think outside the box and not just want to be famous like everyone wants to be no.

Recent ones...

Ludacris - Cashin Out
Wiz Khalifa - No Lie
Currency - BMF
Ace Hood - Miss Me

Etc...shall I continue?

Id argue that mike will, lex, dj spinz should get that youtube money if those artists are getting . But the diff between these songs and Mac's is those songs were populr at the moment allowing the producer to get proper recognition for the song. Im pretty sure a decent amount of those Mac Miller fans dont even know who produced the beat and might be wondering. The least LF was asking for was for his name to be put on the video to get that recognition.

Finesse should even be happy a young head liked his shyt in the first place

Mac Miller should be happy his music was created to make money off of but he should have at least reached out to a hiphop legend like Lord Finesse to tell him *hey i really want to pay homage to your music by doing a track. Is that ok, friend? * Now, because he failed to do that, he is being taxed.

3. Mac’s on the top of his game right now. I wish him the best in Europe and I hope to hear from him besides on Twitter. -- Lord Finesse (@LordFinesseDITC)

2. Basics – Mixtapes are one thing, but you can’t take someone’s else’s entire song, shoot a music video and call it your own. -- Lord Finesse (@LordFinesseDITC)

1. I appreciate Mac’s kind words but his people did not handle his business correctly. -- Lord Finesse (@LordFinesseDITC)
