It’s more like the mid-gen refresh transitioning into new hardware. Makes more sense. Since almost all their owners are on Game Pass they’ll just transition the Series S into a cloud console when the time comes.

The Wii U got 4 years and they cut it off. Giving the Xbox Series 6 years of mainstream life and likely another 2 of extended support doesn’t even compare. That’s double the Wii U’s life.

Mid gen refreshes are silly to begin with. At least this way it serves a dual purpose. If the hardware is so old it needs a beefier version then go all in and replace it.
