nikka you are trying to teach brazilian history to a person that went to brazil and learned it from the actual people. the first portuguese settlers went and married and bred with the natives, it was actually PROMOTED by the monarchy, the second generation started off mix right off the bat. what does that have to do with multi-generational mixtures? yes decades before the slaves got there, mixing doesn't just mean black and white. on top of that blacks and whites in brazil lived with each other and were breeding with each other. Masters in brazil married slaves, while in north america that was illegal. yes brazil has far more mixing than america. they started in the 1500s. theres a reason brazil has an influx of europeans in the 1800s. and all that did was mix them even more. the plan failed because the new europeans just continued to mix with the blacks. just because there was slavery doesnt mean they werent mixing, they didnt have the same laws as the U.S. they could make a slave a wife. and they did A LOT. in the 1600s, mixing was promoted to further the population. whereas in america it was looked down upon.
