street fighter 2 - i was 8 when i saw it in the arcade. i hadnt really thought a game like this was technologically possible on earth, LOL it blew my mind
virtua fighter - looking at those polygons replicate kung fu moves, i thought "ok, consoles cant mess with this!"
mortal kombat - i had never seen a game be that graphic, and to a child, gore and sex mean adult and being an adult before your time is "cool"
tekken 3 - graphics were a step up and i had never seen capoeira before but was a young hip hop head so the moves appealed to me on a breakdance tip
final fight - loved the run down urban environment. the city was so bad the mayor had to beat people. it was like a john carpenter movie you could play!

left 4 dead - unique teamwork and atmosphere were unmatched
battlefield bad company 2 - the best large scale competitive FPS mechanics i had ever experienced
cod 4 - the best action movie campaign and most refined medium scale multiplayer shooter i had ever seen and all in one package
operation flashpoint dragon rising - most accessible "realistic" shooter ever, multiplayer was ruined by being peer to peer but that campaign was amazing
diablo 2 - most addictive multiplayer grind ever

castlevania circle of the moon - no frills castlevania
advance wars - most addictive strategy game i have ever played

picross - the ultimate time waster
castlevania dawn of sorrow - for someone who had skipped saturn, dreamcast, and playstation, this was the most modern castlevania game i had played at the time
NES
super mario bros - first real video game i remember playing as a preschooler, i think. been hooked ever since
super mario bros 3 - at this point, this was probably the most epic game i had ever seen
contra - 2 player with a friend was one of my favorite pasttimes
double dribble - was one of my first nintendo games that i owned and could play regularly
tecmo bowl - addictive, tight gameplay
ninja turtles - my favorite cartoon turned game and was actually faithful to the property and well made
bubble bobble - simple and great multiplayer
ninja gaiden - was too hard for me but very "cool" made me aspire to be a better player
SNES
street fighter 2 - made the upgrade from 8 bit seem worth it
mario kart - great multiplayer fun with sister
star fox - could not believe you could get these graphics on a SNES
blackthorne - was not used to seeing such a dark, hard edged game on SNES
flashback - animation quality drew me in. gameplay has not aged well but tech advancement was more important to me back then
GENESIS
sewer shark (sega CD) - not a good game but tech was more important then
gunstar heroes - at this point, this is the best run and gun i had ever played
streets of rage 2 - setting, gameplay, and music firing on all cylenders and multiplayer
shinobi 3 - ninja games were like their own genre and i thought this was the best one ever at the time
desert strike - before owning a PC, this felt as close as I would get to a simulator
N64
zelda OoT the GOAT zelda and GOAT action RPG period
mario kart 64 - the best kart racer i have ever played. great fun with my sister
goldeneye 007 - the greatest FPS i had ever played (did not own a PC at this point)
starfox 64 - perfect representation of a shmup in 3D
yoshi's story - one of the most aesthetically pleasing games i had ever played
f-zero x - my favorite racing game mechanics ever
body harvest - massive scope with variety of vehicles
resident evil 2 - my first RE game, atmosphere was unmatched and it was hilarious that this was leon's first day on the job
GAMECUBE
metroid prime - most impressive console game i had played at the early part of that generation
resident evil 4 - arguably the GOAT RE even though it was not faithful to the usual slow pace
f-zero GX - so underrated
metal gear solid twin snakes - my first serious attempt to play MGS. confusing but amazing and polished
soul calibur 2 - tight gameplay and Link is playable. nuff said
fire emblem path of radiance - favorite console strategy game, grew to love my soldiers
ikaruga - most creative shmup i had played at that point
WII
sin and punishment star successor - criminally underrated and clever with the use of the motion controls
